The season is young, I get that. But I don't think it's so early that we can't talk about some of the surprises and good stories.
One surprise, regardless of who you cheer for and don't, is seeing both Duke and UNC in the bottom half of the standings. And I know schedules can skew these sort of things, but from the outside looking in, both teams look like they have a ways to go. Duke looks more likely to reach the pinnacle based on talent alone, but we all know how that works.
What about Virginia? Weren't they supposed to be down again? I guess not. And Clemson? A 3-0 start in conference play, but they were good in non-league games, too. And they have a pretty nice collection of veterans. Also, Notre Dame. I don't think any of us thought they'd be 3-0 last week at this time when we learned Bonzi Colson would be out up to eight weeks....and that was before they lost Farrell early in their second conference game.
I would say Pitt is the only team who 'is who we thought they were' at this point. Let's just hope it continues that way at least through Wednesday night.
