How they figure out the All Defensive team, just horrible.
The fact that Hildreth even got a single vote for defensive player of the year is a joke and all you need to know. Also Coop not getting all the votes for rookie of the year is as Stephen A Smith would say... Blasphemous
I’m guessing Brown missed too many games to be in consideration for the All ACC Defensive Team. Everyone knows he is one of the best defenders in the country if not the best.
He got 3 votes, Mal 2 and Sion 1
Hope this fuels us for a deep April run. I know Cooper would rather have a Natty than some dumb ACC award voted on mainly by UNC alumni.
His contributions aren’t as measurable. He’s not impressive in steals or blocks numbers. It’s kinda like how Battier was in the NBA: major impact, tons of respect from people who watch closely, but short on accolades.
Nah, I hope they don’t care about any of it. I hope all they care about is going 19-1 in the reg season and being 0-0 from here on out.
It’ll certainly fuel me, though.

Oof. Close call… Zion is the greater freak-of-nature… Coop is the more complete, well-rounded player.
I haven’t had as much fun watching a Duke team since 2019, for sure, including the FF ‘22 team. I’m too close to it right now to assess it clearly. It’s a tremendous compliment to Coop that it’s a legit consideration.
My dad said it's the best Duke team ever, and is not prone to saying such things. But like 99, they need to seal the deal. If I had to bet my paycheck on 25 vs 99 I'd bet 99.

Tyus is in my Top 5. He was never afraid of the moment while playing for Duke.
You know, the '99 team also played in a weak ACC that year. Only three teams made the tourney that season. Not taking anything away from them.
People forget how good Langdon was in college. He was a ridiculous shooter. One bounce was all he needed.
If K had been healthier that season, we would have won. In his own words, he was spent by that point and could hardly get off the bench. Also, didn't we have some banged-up guys? Or am I remembering that incorrectly?
99? Brand hurt his wrist in the sweet 16, Battier was out late in the year with an ankle injury but came back for the tournament

Yeah, I thought so. K had his hip issues and had surgery immediately after the season ended.
Per bartorvik, Brown has highest steal % in the conference (4.7%). ACC DPOY Hepburn was at 4.1%.
I feel the Defensive Team and DPOY awards should have asterisks.

I might go with Tyus over Kyrie, too, based on what he accomplished in college.

I think if the toe injury never happened to Kyrie than that team seriously could have gone like 38-2 or 39-1 and ran through a weak tournament field that had UCONN Butler in the title game.

You're just saying "38-2 or 39-1" to sound more reasonable than saying undefeated.
If we win it all, Coop will definitely pass Zion as our best OAD ever, if he hasn't already. He'll be in the discussion for greatest OAD in NCAA history.
Coop a finalist for national defensive player of year. ACC dpoty winner Hepburn not even on the list. Make it make sense
