NC State currently shown as "TBA" for their +1 game. Not sure what that means for us.

I think this all but guarantees that the SEC will do the same. Since the only reason I can think of for the plus one is to keep the OOC instate rivalry games going.

I suspect what it means is they're not officially announcing MSU as NC State's +1 game until the SEC announces its scheduling format.

I’m sure Clemson and FSU are both thrilled that they get to add a road game against Notre Dame.

If you're going to play 11 games, why not just play the 12-game schedule you originally had set up in the first place?

My guessing is that it boils down to the ability to be flexible and ensuring a consistent set of protocols.

Because if they don’t change something it means they aren’t doing anything, which means they believe it’s a hoax, which means they support Donald Trump. The last of which is the most heinous of crimes for anyone in an academic setting.

Money.
and
Flexibility

If you have to cancel a game or 4, you still have good games for TV. And you could add on to the season to get all the games in if need be.

I would prefer a shorter season with more conference games and an expanded playoff. Less games would let the season end earlier and allow for more time for a better playoff.

We have an expanded playoff. How many times has the SEC champion NOT made the 4 team playoff?

SEC Championship game is a 1st Round playoff game.

Everybody knows that they will have to go to a 16 team playoff for Mississippi State team to even sniff of a playoff game. So we can just take our little Bowl Game they stick us in and make the best of it. I only care about Mississippi State Football anyway. I watch a few other games if the matchup interests me, and I watch a few of the Bowls for the same reason.

And it irritates the crap out of me to see so many Alabama and LSU fans living in and from Mississippi that either never set foot on either campus or didn’t attend school there and are just front-runner fans. I bet you can’t find 10 fans in South Louisiana of Mississippi State that never attended our school or have zero affiliation through family. Heck, there are Alabama fans living in a Mississippi that can’t spell A L A B A M A.

I can understand why you feel like that I am just tired of scheduling non con patsy teams to play in a bowl system that has been watered down to a irrelevant status to most people I know we got a 5-7 bowl season ourselves but most of these 6-6 vs 6-6 bowls are a snooze fest.

Like I said before I understand that you feel like that it’s just that the traditional bowl season is boring. Maybe they could figure out a way to use the early bowls for playoff games. The matchups in a 16 or more tournament could be actually exciting instead of watching Bama, Ohio State, Clemson, LSU, or one of the blue bloods lining up in the semifinals

Interesting add on - the ACC “TBD” game must take place in that team’s home state.

Reading between the lines, a rule like that makes me think the MSU / NC State is unlikely in 2020.

I found not watching MSU in a bowl even more boring.

The interesting thing is that it’s made clear in the graphic that the championship game participants will be selected based on best 2 winning percentages across the conference. Why would that need to be made clear? Because they know there is a high likelihood of games getting outright cancelled, so they are loading up as many conference games as possible so that every team can play a “normal” conference schedule even if 2-3 games get nixed.

I would bet anything that there is going to be a controversy where you have a team with a conference record of say, 8-1, getting a championship game bid over a 7-1 team (maybe even when the 7-1 team actually beat the 8-1 team head to head) because of the 8-1 team having a higher winning percentage.

I know, but it wouldn’t be possible if the SEC implemented a similar rule.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but the ACC, Big10 & PAC12 have all put forward their plans for scheduling in 2020. Out of those three, the only inter-conference games left standing are potential matchups between ACC and SEC teams within the same state boarders. I just don’t have much faith in MSU @ NC State surviving.

I love bowl season.

Personally, I'm unwilling to give up what's been a decade of fun every holiday season for a scenario that would've had us playing after the Egg Bowl only once in that decade (2014).
There's also an easy argument to be made about how changing to the scenario you describe would hurt our football program far more than help.

I think it even says the OOC game has to be played in the same state.

Lighten up. The Trump stuff was clearly a joke, hence the **.
I stand by the first part about doing something mainly so you can’t be accused of not taking the virus seriously.
