As if the cowbell assault wasn't bad enough, this bottle throwing incident places our fan base in a such a bad light.
The entire evening Nessler and Dykes, the ESPN commentators, are heaping praise on MSU. Even with the courtside reporters begging the topic of the "phone incidents", the Nessler-Dykes combo continues to plug us positively.

Then...the bottles come.

Calipari, who just happens to be on camera with the courtside reporter, ducks and comments about not wanting to get hit with a bottle. Nessler-Dykes chastise the event and Nessler specifically calls out our AD and says he has some issues to address and needs to get more security. It's a "black eye" for the university.

Nice. Let's hope the damage was limited to only a few million viewers (sarcasm intended). The opportunity to place MSU in a positive light on a nationally televised event tarnished due to inexcusable actions. Worse than that, it takes away from the best efforts of the team, the coaching staff, and the great fan support (turnout) who earned the respect of the ESPN crew and probably the at-home audience, especially in spite of odds they faced.

Hopefully, we'll not hear much more about this incident. But somehow I doubt it. And I'm concerned there will be further repercussions.

Just my two hundred Lira.

But considering the ramifications of the game and all that was at stake, the damn officials should shoulder some of the blame. Of course they want, but they should. The blocking foul was the single worst call I have ever seen in all of sports. PERIOD.

after Osby gets punched in the face by Cousins when he goes up for a lay-up, Barry gets all ball defending a Wall layup andthen gets called for a foul.....and 1, and then the next possession Wall goaltends and ESPN proceeds to suck him off.............I would have thrown my girlfriend on the court much loss a freakin plastic bottle.

Yea it looks bad for us to do throw bottles.....but for those of you who think Stans is even an above averagecoach (whichhe isnot) think about us being up 7 with 3:00 to play......whoops

Secret sources say Genie Swind@ll paid a few people to throw bottles on the court at the end of the game and claim to be Ole Miss fans, seriously

It will come out tomorrow.....

In all seriousness, the texts and bottle throwings and such looks bad for our state much more than just your school, especially the texts regardless of which fans sent them looks extremely bad for Mississippi and the South

Don't be surprised if this is the death nail to the Cowbell in the future. The only thing worse than those that threw the cups and bottles are the dozens of people who know exactly who threw them and did or said nothing. I guess it doesn't matter now because in typical Mississippi State tradition, the punishment won't fit the crime and we will be paying for it years in the future. Save your "it has nothing to do with the cowbell", because now it has everything to do with it.

Thanks again...your and idiots

And all we threw was a plastic bottle. Given it was a couple MSU fans who lost it versus thousands of butthurt UK fans, I say they're the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't know who I'm hoping fails more now, Kentucky basketball or Cam Newton.

Of course it's unacceptable but it's also simply laughableto believe anyone outside the state of Mississippi will give a **** about the incident by the end of the week. The punks who threw the bottles need to be dealt with, but unless the bottle throwing continues, the story will be old news on the national landscape within a few days.

...the poor officiating. So let's address something closer to their hearts, rather than "black eye" we took thanks to the thoughtless act yesterday.

Weren't people already complaining about how long it takes to get in the gates of the football games this past fall?

A wild guess on my part that cowbell assaults and water bottle slinging this year will really slow up getting into the games next year.

Here's hoping we don't have another 1987 incident at Dudy Noble to pull off a trifecta...

but I am guessing it was when a few people dropped the nbomb on a black guy from Oklahoma State, and he mooned everybody after they won. If you actually want the article I'm sure someone on the spirit will be happy to provide it.

Who in the hell is going to turn people in. It is not you are going to get Jack Bauer to waterboard the 17ers. This was not as bad as everybody says. We will be back to being called Mississippi by the end of the LSU game.

John Dog, what are you talking about with this "17" reference? Is it your IQ? Mississippi isn't the brighest state in the union. I bet that that bulldog's excrement is more pleasant to be around than residing in that pseudo welfare state that is supported by the rest of the country. You are welcome and you should be thankful that UK lowers themselves to play in your 10,000+ seat rimhole arena to entertain y'all.

Have a great rest of your crap season.

You lose all credibility to talk **** just with that. Maybe you're the one with an iq of 17.

Jeez UK has brought some super douches over here.

REM - isn't that the band with the effeminate singer? Just wondering.

You can always move to another state that values being decent and being good sports instead of living in a culture of irresponsibility and crudeness mixed in with idiocy.

...first off, suck my sweaty 17ing balls. Second, you realize that you are from KENTUCKY. Kentucky only rivals West Virginina for toothless hillbillies. It's that type of trashiness that can only come from a state, such as Kentucky, that is not purely southern yet not purely northern. So, you get the trash that comes with the north and the redneck/country that comes with the south and it creates a hybrid super-trashball.

I figured someone with such intelligence as someone from Kentucky would figure out how this simple little Mississippi message board works.

Most people from Kentucky are straight hill-billy rednecks. Go to one of their football games and you will see. Alot of sidewalk (Bama style) fans. Makes me sick to think about the last time I went up there. Hill country rednecks are 10 times worse than rednecks from Mississippi.

Nothing is worse than driving through Mississippi. Did it once going to New Orleans, and it was pure hell.

A little bit of advice - on those exit ramps you have, it might be a good idea to build some gas stations, a few restaurants, maybe a hotel or two. You know, some form of civilization. Might make a little money for your state in the meantime. If you discover electricity in the near future, I would highly recommend the above suggestions.

You'll thank me later.

while I sit in my HOUSE (not a cabin in the hills) in Jackson, MS, who's metro area is about 100,000 people more than yours (Lexington), you bring out the electricity joke. Please come back to MS. We'd love to have you. I'd love to introduce you to my friends on Bailey Avenue and Wood Street or even my friends on Farish Street. They're well known for their hospitality and lending a helping hand to hillbillies that are lost.
