The difference is that next year the 13/14th best teams will likely have three losses and and will be at least the second place team in there conference and the only people who will really care are fans of those schools as everyone will agree the truly deserving teams are in and likely in the top 8.
In this case FSU went undefeated in a P5 conference and had wins over 3 SEC schools including a 9 win LSU team. FSU deservers to be in the playoffs for sure. As doe all four teams that made including a once beaten SEC champion.
If you win a P5 conference or if you are an undefeated D1 team you deserve a chance to play for championship ands a 12 team playoff will take care of that next year. Unfortunately for FSU, a year to late.

As controversial as all of this is, the fact of the matter is that it is still light years better than the old days of no BCS selection process at all which led to the 1994 and 1997 controversies. Talk about truly "Mythical" national championships, those were the days. Even when we got the BCS title game between the top two teams there was controversy.
This is the last year for the current format. Next year it goes to 12 teams and this will all be past history. We will finally get the best teams in College football in a true playoff situation similar to the NFL.

Yep, and the controversy was because our now conference partners refused to play in the BCS CG because they rather have played in the PAC 10 champ in the Rose Bowl..
Exactly. The Big Ten had nobody to blame but themselves. And we would have beaten both of heir asses anyway. Still ... it underscores how stupid the old system was. At least, even in the two team BCS format, Nebraska would have played PSU in 94 and Michigan in 97. And now with 12 teams it will be even better. I feel sorry for FSU and their fans. They deserved better. But maybe having this huge controversy at the end has one silver lining. It will show us all why the current system is stupid and needed a big change.
How is the new 12 team format to be decided? I do not know. I suppose there will always be some controversy. Heck, even in the Basketball playoffs there is controversy.
We didn't need to he shown it needed change since it was already changing. The 12 team playoff isn't a knee jerk reaction to what transpired 4 hours ago. They ****** FSU worse than anything ever in the history of this game. FSU didn't say "no we are in the acc and belong to the Orange tie in" like Michigan or Penn St in the 90s did. They even went out and scheduled LSU and beat them worse than Bama did. This screw job is in line with how our world operates now.

You’re confusing feelings with facts. It’s ok.. my wife does it all time too. You feel Alabama is better than fsu, but you have no facts to back this up.
The problem is that FSU is down to their 3rd QB and he looked bad last night. The committee even stated that part of their job is to take into account injuries. I hate seeing Saban and Alabama back in there but no way - right now - is FSU a top 4 team.
