I hate to ***** about referees, but that was undoubtedly one of the worst officiated games I can recall in recent memory.

Not only was the on field officiating terrible, but both times the replay booth was called into action they still made the incorrect call.

At least we will get a reprieve from the B10 tomorrow apologizing for that **** show.

I actually heard that in an NFL game last week, where a center moved their head up as the playclock wound down, causing the defense to jump—-but they called it on the center

There were 2 female refs today. Take that as you will.

It's stupid! The O-line knows the count and needs to move on the count not the defense. I could see that being a penalty on an offense e.g. the center in jerking his head or the QB making a sudden move, but the defense should be able to move all they want as long as they don't encroach.

It's a sucky call but it's a new rules for the 2025 season. It explicitly prohibit quick, exaggerated, or sudden movements by defensive players that are not part of normal defensive action and are an attempt to bait the offense into a false start.

So a player that has never been quick or deceptive in his entire football career, gets called for a penalty of being quick and deceptive.

Amazing.

What Van Popple did, IS a normal defensive action. We see guys shift over tons of times.

DL cant shift? Thats gone on since forever.
They can, we did it a lot today. The White hat and the opposite side judge immediately got together to decide how to call that on Nebraska. Same side judge that sprinted across the field to their QB, after he ripped his helmet off on the field while taunting our sideline after the 2 point conversion. I guess a firm finger wagging is the same as what is supposed to be a 15 yard penalty

But it wasn’t an attempt to bait the offense into a false start. He shifted over to line up in a different place but the officials chose to make a bad call. That one and the reception that was short of the 1st down on 4th that they gave an extra 2 yards on, make me not feel guilty one bit for the defensive holding not called on us later.

It’s not new. It’s being emphasized……against us.

I thought I saw him rip his helmet off. Garbage tv crew said nothing and like you said he got a talking to vs 15 yards on the kickoff helping us. Seems fair.

Isn't there a defensive penalty where the DL can't fake going forward to try & draw the OL to jump early?

Even if there is, what Van Popple did wasn't that. He just shifted over and the OL wasn't disciplined.
The former is what they called. It’s a delay of game ( called today) when a defensive play simulates a snap. Von Popple didn’t shift he stood up and acted like he was ready for play. I thought tje NW OL might have moved first but it was close.

You guys really need to quit complaining about officiating. It’s not a good look.
Every single team thinks the refs are “somehow” biased. But you guys are bad. Do you think if that was really true after all these years….. that there might be proof that they have it in for one Team (Nebraska) and everyone else is getting a pass? Stop it - you sound like children. Give me my Ball - I’m going home.

The fastest I’ve ever seen a ref run was after that play and the qb had stood there taunting while ripping off his helmet. Completely across the field so they could hide it

Same tv crew that said Marshall is our best cover corner and Donovan Jones is the worst tackler on our team. Wtf. Just hire some local doofus to call the game. At least they will know about our players. Embarrassing.

Yeah. Eveyrone is against Nebraska. Guess what? No one gives a rats *** about Neb and hasn't for 27 years. Excuses for the poor admin crap. they won, though. Matt Kenneth Rhule is lighting it up.

Just be glad they swallowed the whistle on that last play with Marshall. Because otherwise we are talking OT and that hasn't gone well for us lately.

Women should not be allowed to officiate anything in men's sports.
It can be a really tough thing to watch sometimes.

At one point during the game, the white female ref tried getting a new ball from the sideline. She slips/trips, ball gets tossed to her, she then realizes another ref had already gotten a different ball, she tries to toss it back to the ball boy, of course it doesnt get to him so it's bouncing around on the field near the sideline.

It was rough...

They need to get rid of conference refs and just have NCAA refs. Same guys shouldn’t officials for the same teams year after year. They get to know coaches to well and creat bias, even if it’s subconscious. There are 136 teams so at least 68 crews right. That’s enough to rotate to stop bias

The fact that conferences don’t push for this tells you something’s up
