When pastor Scott said no Mitch couldn’t handle it. When the lady you always planned to take to prom doesn’t go, sometimes u just have to settle for taking your cousin and hoping your classmates don’t know.

In all seriousness, I wish I had taken my cousin. She was a model and absolutely gorgeous! We went to dinner one time and every guy in the restaurant was gawking. She thought it was annoying. I thought it was funny.

Pope has lost 15 games 3 times, at least 10 games in 7 of his 9 seasons, never won a regular season title.

This is an awful hire.

You're truly clueless.

Tell us how your golden boy fared the last 4 years.

How's that campaign of "anyone but Cal" working out for you? lol

Piss off. It was well past time for Cal to go. It’s not like keeping him would have been any better with the recent results he has had over the past four seasons. This was just a poorly handled coaching search.

I will take an unpopular view with regard to Donovan. He turned us down twice. If he wanted the job, he should have pursued it through a representative. I don’t think you court someone three times. I think Billy needed to put his name on the plate or we take a pass.

[UK90]

I talked to a good friend who is a donor and he's absolutely shocked. He said he knew Hurley was going to say no but he didn't blame Mitch for going all out but he had no clue that Pope was going to be the choice.
I asked him why wasn't Pearl contacted about the job and he said he had no clue unless Mitch didn't want to deal with Bruce.
He did say he didn't talk to Barnhart or anybody associated with the athletic department but he didn't think Mitch went the distance on this hire.
I told him I liked Pope but feel like he wasn't ready for this job and that it could be a disaster.
His words were telling when he said join the crowd.

I think that token attempt at Hurley was just a gesture done to make it look like we at least tried. Mitch knew he was not gonna accept.

Drew is really the only guy we made a “serious’ run at. When that failed, he jumped straight to the sure thing in Pope.

Fantastic lil buddy. I'd rather lose with Pope than lose with Cal. We were gonna suck next season no matter what. At least I won't want to punch Mark.

His podcast today was good

How could you not at least wait for Donovan if you don't want Pitino? All that experience and reputation going for Donovan, he could have hit recruiting hard right off.

The answer he gave to this is they had to act quick to try to beat the dead period on recruiting/portal.

[Randy Bob]

Pope would not been my first choice either but people like Pitino has recommended him and Pitino know more about coaching than anyone I know so that a pretty good endorsement. I think Pope will have very exciting winning teams. He has beaten Kan at Kan and Baylor something very few teams have done and he did not have a bunch of 5 stars.
