UCONN played like they were disappointed in the crowd. They were plain awful last night. USF played inspired and hard nosed. Not sure what they lose or bring back but if they have some core guys back and the right coach (not sure if Bartow is the guy), they could improve from last place.

Some questions for today: Can ECU give SMU any trouble? Can we play Cincy like we did the 1st game we played against them? Does anyone care about UCF/Memphis? Do UCONN fans turn out for the game tonight against Houston and make a difference?

So Semi Ojeleye only takes one class this semester because he's already earned enough credits to graduate (and has a 3.6 GPA in Psych)...then it's really hard to hate on the guy when you hear how he is spending his free time by going to a homeless shelter and volunteering a couple days a week. It's a lot easier to hate on SMU when you think that no one goes to class and everyone has someone doing all their schoolwork for them.

3pt game, 1:11 left. ECU hitting all sorts of shots and playing balls to the wall aggressive D

They need to make Perry the HC. This is the best they have played since we've been in s league with them.

8 seed Michigan tied with top seed Purdue in B1G game, about 4 seconds left. Refs just gave Purdue a free time out for a clock issue

The damn free timeouts have to stop. Basketball finds the stupidest things to change every year, but the free timeouts are unfair.

UCF dominating Memphis. Wow. D. Lawson 0-8. And Fall is on bench with two fouls.

I'm going to make controversial statement: we dodged a bullet when Tubby didn't come home.

I agree. I'm also a bit surprised. Would have thought Tubby would have done better with that level of talent.

Most of those players are still Pastner's recruits. The majority of them are "me first" players and that isn't what works in Tubby's system. I mentioned it in another thread when UMemphis chimed in...Tubby wants smart players. Dedric Lawson is going to leave and Tubby can just start bringing in his guys. Memphis was as good as the guys Pastner left behind...they'll get better under Tubby.

As for us dodging a bullet...eh. I'm not 100% positive Tubby was the right fit at this point in time. Yeah, we all love him and what he did for TU...doesn't mean his style is right for us this time around.

That's a good way of putting it. But I'm not sweating it the way I did when we didn't take the big offer and went and hired Manning. It worked out ok for us.

Memphis overachieved during the Calipari era. Cal had five 20+ winning seasons and three 30+ seasons. That was the outlier not the norm. Memphis has a nice program but at the time he arrived Tulsa's program was better than the Memphis program. I think going forward we have every right to believe that Tulsa will be every bit as good a Memphis program and dare I say better. I expect that actually.

GO TU!!!!

What do you guys think of Johnny Dawkins at UCF? They've now won 6 in a row.

Better than I thought. Honestly, I like their old coach a lot and thought they were just screwed. But Dawkins has that team playing way better. I bet they give SMU a game, especially if Tacko Tico can stay out of foul trouble.

I've always thought Dawkins was a good coach. Things just went stale at Stanford as happens sometimes. The AAC has some tremendous coaches as a group.

UH-UCONN

Houston starts the game 20-9, and UCONN ends the half on a 26-6 run to lead 35-26 at half. Really weird and Houston looks like garbage right now. Gray taking everything, haven't heard Dotson's name a lot and I forgot Chicken was even on the team until the last 2 minutes of the half. Purvis is on fire in the tournament so far. 30 last night, probably a dozen so far in this one.

The AAC needs a good draw in the tournament. We need a couple of sweet sixteen teams or better.

The AAC needs to play this tournament in Dallas. There'd be a ton more fans rather than just UCONN fans. SMU, TU, Houston, Tulane, Memphis. And DFW is a lot easier to get to than Springfield/Hartford which may be a smaller airport than Tulsa.

SMU fans say the school has flat out said not interested. Their "fan base" isn't gonna show up for other games.

I'm hoping for the new UH arena to get it in the near future.

Have it here. We should bid on it and force them to turn down a terrific arena.

We can't even average half our campus arena for our own team.

Tulsa is a direct flight for what, only SMU and Houston?

No way.

I hope UCF makes the tournament. I always root for them when they're not playing us. Not sure why but I like them.

As for SMU, Houston, UCONN, and ECU they can all suck it Dgeneration X style.
