1. BETTER than I thought. The bosnian kid seems promising snd Fall> Ogbole.
2. If the offensive coaching is the same it means nothing.
3. We may play “around” .500 with this group. Same as last yesr and fhe year before. That wont save Pike’s job if the will and finances work out.

Re: "around 500" and coaches job

Are you saying that if the team goes 17-17, then 2-1 in the NIT we are firing Pikiell ? No chance
That would be 4 consecutive years missing the tournament whether you think the year with Spencer was a snub or not

That gets 98% of power 4 coaches fired regardless of contract

Unless your university doesn’t prioritize winning… keep in mind as well by the end of next season we will have a president and presumably an AD and it is likely if Steve doesn’t win this year they will want to bring in their own guy

Those predicting / assuming failure just want to continue the Pike sucks,RU sucks narrative. Rational and reasonable people understand all the possibilities but also know no games have been played so you're just an ahole adamantly telling us over and over we've failed. Just like during games when we miss a shot the malcontents tell us we've lost. Funny ,if we win ,they usually don't tell us the next day in long, useless recaps how wrong they were wrong.

Getting Bosnian kid should help if Pike can scheme him open for 3's (debatable on scheming part). Fall has potential but is he willing to bulk up and put in the work. Still hopefully better than Ogbole who we know cannot play D1. Still not sure where scoring will come from. Ceiling is probably .500 season. Pike might get one year with new AD before Pike's new boss has to flush $15M to erase Hobbs mistake. I liked Pike but since Mag injury and changing world of college basketball, I have serious doubts that Pike will get $$$ support and can adjust to new world.

Love Pike but I do worry that he’s not cut out for this new world.

But I hope he is.

My thought too, he can hit the open three but can we set picks and do we have the players that can see the floor and find him? Defenses will mark him at the three point line. UConn picks constantly, sometimes 5 or more per possession, we need to develop this basic concept on O. I still hold out hope Og improves, he is really a physical specimen.

Does "potential" even matter anymore? This usually takes time to develop and learn. There is no time anymore as the new format of college basketball is get players from the portal with experience ready to go day one.
I think players who need time, are better served going to lower divisions first. If after a year or two, they show real promise they enter the portal and finish their careers at higher level schools with NIL money in their pockets.

We don't have one player that's a legit big ten starter. Grant might be the closest and he's borderline. The roster is trash.... land of misfit toys..
Buchanan must be a good player based on his first two seasons of college ball.
Francis is undersized but can stick the trey from well beyond the arc consistently.
Zrno is a very good shooter from deep.
If the Fall-Ogbole tandem give excellent D near the basket there might be a lot of low scoring games where just a couple of made shots late makes the difference. Fall with ten more pounds added might be a real defensive force in the BIG.
Grant looks ready to take the next step improvement-wise and
JaMike (dubbed JaMiss by some on this board) improved his efficiency and began playing under control last year.
Team isn’t overmatched from an athleticism/size standpoint at all except maybe Francis and JaMike being a little shorter and more slender than a lot of BIG guards.

With the recent signings, we get a big 2 guard who can shoot remotely well and defend I like our chances, actually, for the bubble, assuming we get back to defending better.
