A ray of hope

For a change we are not winning the off-season. We were for a while with the optimism generated by the coaching hires and some good portal pick ups. But the Spring game was a dud even by Spring game standards, defensive lineman are bailing out, there is for now zero mojo being generated by portal transfers even as a rumor, little excitement over the incoming recruiting class, and an overall feeling of the “blahs” from most fans. So we are not winning the off season.

But I take that as a ray of hope. Every year that we win the off season we suck in the real season. Now, everybody is just kind of in the dumps. Good! Maybe this is the year that we defy the prognosticators, but in the opposite direction.

Interesting take. So maybe we should hope that a few more defensive linemen leave. I think you’re clutching at straws there.

Reverse Psychology, I like it!

My expectations and interest in the team are currently lower than snail sh*t so I’ll bask in this ray of hope 🌤

One can always hope. That's all we have right now...

Well, Frost will be out of a job unless he wins 7. That's like double his win average. People getting worked up over our DL situation. This is all on Frost.

I've said it a thousand times before and I'll say it again. Spring is almost meaningless when it comes to predicting the Fall. Just enjoy it for what it is and don't try to read anything into it.

I think the only thing the Skers have in their favor is just how lame the Big Ten West is...you basically have the same crappy teams top to bottom.

It is why most of the teams in the division just hope the other team makes a mistake (or 5) during the game.

If the Big Ten West is so bad....SEC and other teams should be lining up to visit in the non-conference. Easy resume boost. I'm sure Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa would be happy to host an SEC team.

Yeah, I know that Minny vs UGA game would be a huge ******* draw in Athens.

Regardless of what you have told us, it hasn't been very difficult to predict the fall outcomes. They have been consistent, if nothing else.

Tennessee coming to NU in a couple years

SEC schools definitely don't even think to call the scrub programs you listed. can't blame them.

exactly. we've looked like crap in the spring game only to look like crap during the season.

the performances have been insanely predictive.

Sorry Pennsy, I no longer have even a ray of hope for the Scott Frost regime. If the surreal Spring Game wasn't enough to convince people it is over (false start second play, OC not calling plays, no QBs appearing to be stepping up to take the job, same general offensive disorganization, etc.); losses to OU, Indiana at home after a bye week, and road losses the next two weeks at Rutgers and Purdue, then a beat down in Ann Arbor and a home loss to the Badgers will seal the deal and we can all move on.

The fans are right to feel they way they do and the team needs to adopt the same approach.

When it comes to making stupid mistakes and pooping your pants when the game is on the line, I think the Husker football team is at the top of the list. There's a sense of entitlement and false confidence around the program that has existed for years. Once something goes wrong, everything falls apart. For once, I would like to see the team come into a season with some humility. One symbolic way to show that would be for the leadership council to say no more tunnel walk until... (fill in the blank).

Embrace being the underdog. Take some pressure off yourselves and have a little fun rather than playing so tight.

It would be better than Appalachian State, Samford, Murray State, East Tennessee State, Alabama-Birmingham, & Charleston Southern that was on Georgia's schedule last year.

Scoring a big win at Minnesota can be a real program-builder. Bowling Green used theirs as a springboard to a 4-8 season and a 4th place tie in the MAC East.

And they lose everytime they match up with them in the preseason.

Looking at the schedule, we should start out 8-1, and end up 8-4 or 9-3. Instead we will start out 4-5 and end up 4-8. Scott knows this is his year to make it or break it. Lots of pressure riding on this season.

It was the biggest upset (point spread) in the last 25 years!
So funny and then you have Minny fans acting like they are "elite"

Under that scenario, I wonder when Alberts would pull the trigger. My guess would be at 4-7 with no chance of a winning record.

That is a good question and I think it will be when 6 wins is no longer attainable or if there is an ugly home loss.

You gotta love how this board only mentions the Big Ten's losses and not the wins. And says they play the worst schedules...even though Georgia had the schedule that I listed. It's as if Nebraska's plan is to drag the conference down instead of moving themselves up.

There's only one poster here who's enough of a slobbering dimwit to think that comments posted on a message board impact the fate of the Big Ten Conference.

Want to take a guess who that is?
