Appears A&M opens as a 6 point favorite. Don’t know what Vegas is seeing. I don’t see how we score

Maybe Vegas is counting on a heavy COVID-19 outbreak among the Aggies...Big College Station - Florida victory party with "super spreaders"?

We are an “under” machine right now. We play slow, don’t score many points and have a strong D.

I expected this to be more like TAM -10. So, I’m on the Aggies -6.

I dunno about this one. On the surface we look like a total mess and A&M should win this easily, but 2016 and 2018 were kinda similar situations and we figured out a way to get an upset win at home.

Not expecting us to win but I could see why the line is what it is and why we might have a puncher’s chance. A&M has struggled in Starkville over the years, even when we weren’t that good.

Vegas isn’t emotional like we as fans are. They realize that State’s turnovers have completely shifted public perception on what State truly is. They set lines without much consideration given to turnovers. They believe they’re mostly luck. Now, obviously it’s starting to become a trend for State, so I’m sure it’s a factor, but just not a big one.

They also realize A&M is coming off a very emotional win and State’s backs are against the wall. And, while the advantage isn’t as much as normal years, they’re still seemingly giving home teams a couple points this year.

Any time you see a line like this that makes you do a double take, I’d be very cautious loading up on it. I think I’d wait and let the line move to -7 as the public hammers A&M, and then put a little bit on State money line. If they lose, well you didn’t lose much, and you got to pull for State wholeheartedly. But if they win... well you’re going to be ecstatic.

All good points (especially it being a letdown spot for A&M), but I will say that there are times a team's own fans have their team figured out before the market does. I think we knew we sucked last year before the lines reflected that reality.

I definitely have a better lifetime record betting on or against State than I do in general.

That line is some kind of fishy. There’s no reason why A&M shouldn’t beat us by 20, but if I’m an Aggie fan, seeing that spread makes me nervous as hell.

Now this I very much agree with. In fact, I believe it was on this board where there was a gambling discussion before the season started where I said that if most of us only bet MSU and OM games we’d likely be 55% or better. We know the teams much more intimately (that sounds creepy, but I guess it’s the right word) than Vegas. But, we also are much more emotional about our teams.
