The Tennessee jet was setting a course to pick up Leach and bring him back to Knoxville so he could be introduced as the next Vols HC but Fulmer put an end to that.

Had talked with Ole Miss three different times over the years about their job.

Turned Arkansas down (before they hired Morris) and told them a few weeks ago the starting point to get him to look at their job was 7mill.

Told Missouri he wasn't interested in their job a few weeks ago.

Had a few talks with Florida about their job before they hired Mullen.

Turned the Kentucky job down twice.

Was on the final list for the UCLA job.

Turned an interview down with North Carolina before they hired Brown.

Was on the final list for the Miami job in 2006 and 2010.

Turned down interviews with Arizona,Arizona State and Colorado.

Of course he turned down those jobs. Land-locked states. I guess he just doesn't like North Carolina and Ole Miss.

Curious, where did this information come from?

If true (you're not a Bert are you?) then it's quite interesting that he chose to accept MSU's offer when he basically turned down Ark, Miz, UNC, Kentucky, AZ, ASU, and CU.

How in depth were the talks with OM? Did they just not progress or did he turn them down as well (or did they decide to keep Luke)?

Miami is the school I could see him leaving for one day. He loves it down there.

Starkville gets a bad rap but if you think about it, it's 4 hours or so to NO, within 4 hours of the Florida Beaches, within 2-3 hour drive of Memphis and Birmingham and 4-5 hours to Atlanta. Much better options than Pullman, WA or Lubbock. And for Pirate, the Flora-Bama is not too far away!
