As someone who has watched Iowa basketball for nearly 50 years, I really enjoy this team. That said, a few things get a little bit under my skin.
One is the occasional lazy pass…those casual, one-handed tosses that too often turn into steals, especially against good teams. Another is forcing the ball into traffic right under the basket, where there’s little room to operate.
At times, it also feels like a few players (no names) play a bit too casually, with a demeanor that oddly brings back memories of Fran coaching with his hands in his pockets.
Still, I love this group and really appreciate how Ben coaches. I was at a game recently and saw him constantly teaching, calmly pointing things out and explaining what should have been done differently. That approach really stands out to me, and I hope he has great success here. In fact, I’m sure he will.
