Q’s old man is correct and everyone but you and Campbell realize it.Q needs to distance himself from the old man quickly
It's acceptable for his daddy to bash a teammate on social media....wowQ’s old man is correct and everyone but you and Campbell realize it.
But it was an accurate bashing and we’re in a new era. I don’t have a problem with QM2 calling it as it is.It's acceptable for his daddy to bash a teammate on social media....wow
Good luck with that--maybe dad shouldn't live through his kid
Daddy can't comment about Q's playing time and his teammates--it's inappropriate. But it was an accurate bashing and we’re in a new era. I don’t have a problem with QM2 calling it as it is.
It’s okay to be outspoken when you share the truth.
Drew Mestemaker played for North Texas the last 2 years, and this season transferred into a Big 12 program. I can assure you that he is better than our QBs, and probably all QBs in the Big 10.If he had been a B1G level talent he would have been recruited by a B1G program to begin with.
That people continue to seem surprised continues to baffle me.
Although the Rocco/PSU situation may have been an extreme, we will probably see more of this as team's project portal QBs that 'just need a little better coaching' ala IU/Mendoza.In addition, paying an average player huge, life-changing $$$ is only make them worse imo because they become self-satisfied, overconfident and complacent. How many times have we seen Becht take losses when scrambling outside the pocket rather than just getting rid of the ball? Yesterday he fumbled the ball inside our own 10 yard line while scrambling way outside the pocket and should have long-since thrown the ball away! The fumble and subsequent game-clinching scUM TD were utterly unnecessary and avoidable. Becht has gotten worse, not better, since coming to PSU and a big part of that was paying an average QB huge top-$$$ maket-rate money making him believe he was as good as that money suggested and violated the old adage that "a man has got to know his limitations" if he is going to reach his maximum potential. Becht doesn't play "within his limitations", he simply ignores them and plays as if he doesn't have them or needs to recognize them to make continual improvement.
BTW, who is it that brought Becht here for huge money pushing Grunk out the door???
You forget Rocco is playing for the same coachesAlthough the Rocco/PSU situation may have been an extreme, we will probably see more of this as team's project portal QBs that 'just need a little better coaching' ala IU/Mendoza.
I don't put it all on Rocco. Who could have projected such a pathetic running game? Losing your number one WR (a first year starter that you had few practice reps with) didn't help.
And what you do think QM2 accomplished other than mortifying his son and making every other coach think twice about potentially recruiting him out of the transfer portal? But it was an accurate bashing and we’re in a new era. I don’t have a problem with QM2 calling it as it is.

No I didn't-why I am confused why Rocco has underutilized the 2 TEs he played with at ISU....3 of the 4 RBs and most of the OL are different, so he is dealing with some change although my expectations coming into the season is that neither was a significant downgrade from what he had at ISU.You forget Rocco is playing for the same coaches
Herbie on qb assessment…,
Sowell was not a Franklin recruit. He came from ISU. Had previously been at Colorado and East Carolina. Another nonsense, long winded rant from the individual who has no credibility.Probably not appropriate, but this is a sign of the problem I spoke about a couple days ago in another thread... The fact that Campbell's over-paid Free Agents (i.e., "His Players") are duds and the best players on the team are all under-paid Franklin-recruited holdovers, is terrible for "team" unity and chemistry. Do you really think the player feels any differently than the father (or that some of this isn't the direct result of conversations between the two? )? This is professional football now and Campbell is about to see the results of his talent-evaluation shortcomings and decisions -- he is going to lose all his best players to Free Agency and be left with "his guys" - iow, the wildly overpaid ISU duds.
Since Howard (a Franklin recruit) went down, why has Sowell (a Franklin recruit) emerged rather than Campbell's-guy #4??? Why has Rappleyea emerged during b1g play and Campbell's-guy #18 has gone into hiding? The list goes on and on and on sadly. Those saying Campbell is going to recruit his way out of this are beyond naive, ignorant and blind. Campbell recruited all these highly-paid Free Agent duds that are laying eggs - Campbell also chased off many Franklin-recruited players that went Free Agent and are performing far better for their new teams than Campbell's highly-paid Free Agent is doing at PSU.
Poor play by our OL and DL IMO have been the story of our season..What i see is an average qb. Not terrible, but not good enough to lift a team with no running game to a win against a decent defense. With no run game, he had to throw 45 times yesterday, and made a few mistakes. Would have been nice if the defense could have stepped up after the turnovers instead of immediately giving up long runs. The run defense and no pass rush are a bigger problem than Roco. As for Manske, we have no idea how he is practicing or if he is even healthy. I'd like to see him get a couple of series against Purdue, but i would still start Roco unless Manske is great in practice the next two weeks.
or 2nd option is not ready..The answer that Campbell gave yesterday about not even considering a change in QB is interesting......it either shows belief in what he has in Rocco, or it shows blind loyalty........
Sowell is a Campbell guy. He was the best player on the field. Too bad that is the only Campbell guy that can play.Probably not appropriate, but this is a sign of the problem I spoke about a couple days ago in another thread... This has been brought up on several podcasts, and the question is does he have a sore shoulder or is he hurt as it seems the zip has gone from his passes. Early in the season he was throwing absolute missiles on long throws, now when he throws an out the ball looks like it's in slow motion. So, the question is legit IMO. Not making excuses for him since he still makes terrible decisions on most of his RPO's and doesn't seem to see wide open receivers because he's locked on to his primary read. What i see is an average qb. I haven’t seen any zip in any big ten games, and PSU beats Wisconsin if he didn’t under throw every pass over 30 yardsThis has been brought up on several podcasts, and the question is does he have a sore shoulder or is he hurt as it seems the zip has gone from his passes. In the first three games he was very accurate and was throwing lasers.I haven’t seen any zip in any big ten games, and PSU beats Wisconsin if he didn’t under throw every pass over 30 yards
. Correct. We have lost all 4 conference games up front and been beaten soundly at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football. You simply cannot win football games when you get beaten at the line of scrimmage. We cannot run block, and cannot give enough time to throw on offense, and cannot stop the run, nor rush the passer on defense.
This is a direct product of Losing players both to graduation, and to the portal, and failing to replace them in recruiting, portal and returned players.
Most of this falls down on the mismanagement of the roster by Franklin, but a share of this falls on Campbell, making poor judgement with both his Iowa St portals and with the defensive linemen he took in the portal.
