Mullen was constantly on their asses. He says JM is almost the opposite and that the team has not adjusted to him. “We need him on our butts demanding more and it just don’t happen enough. We have gone flat”.

That about says it.

I don't want to jinx us or anything but why would Rutgers (or any other P5 school) want this dud within 10 miles of their football program as head coach ?

The one thing Mullen realized when he walked in was how important the S&C coach is. He hired Balis and that set the tone for the program. Hearing Bumphis and all the first set of players talk about Balis - it didn't sound like a vacation.

Mullen always called it the most important hire on the staff.

Its what we keep saying. JM has "substitute teacher syndrome". The kids are all shooting spitballs and flying paper airplanes and Joe is politely asking them to stop. Or maybe he isn't even asking them to stop, I don't know. But its obvious he is not demanding much out of his players nor is he holding them accountable within the program. Otherwise our team would not look so lost and unprepared when we play. I keep saying it but no way do you have TEN guys involved in a tutorgate situation if there is discipline and accountability inherent in a program. Maybe one or two rogue, lazy guys, but not TEN.

Head coach of Fordham w/ 2 years OC experience at Penn State is not sufficient prep for taking over a SECW program. Had Moorhead been with Franklin five years before getting this job it may be different. He's just not ready to be head coach on the P5 level especially in the SEC.

On the flip side, i was talking to a friend that has connections with Virginia Tech's program. Apparently, Fuente has been riding all of them hard which is different than Beamer's approach and that's caused them problems.

Could be an ACC/SEC difference. Either way, State has to play with discipline and that's not happening.

Sounds like we needed Fuente instead.

Or, it could say something about the type of players available to MSU and VT. It makes sense.

The biggest problem for me here is not that Joe won't yell at them enough. It's that they don't have enough self respect for the name on the back of their jersey or respect for the name on the front of their jersey to put in the effort to be great for either of those without having to be yelled at. That's your excuse for not playing hard? You don't get yelled at enough? I would think being embarrassed by teams with less talent than you would be enough motivation. Man the 17 up. You signed up to play in the SEC. It was not a secret when you signed or a secret now the amount of toughness and work it takes to do that. You want to play in the NFL? You think all your coaches are going to spend their time yelling at you to make you better, to make you tough. You have to be self motivated to be great. This is not a defense of Joe, I feel the team is soft and if him yelling will fix it he has to do it or hire some coaches who will do it for him in a good cop/bad cop style. But damn, that really disappoints me as a fan, that a player would say that.
