It's about the veiwership.

Cable news operate like traditional TV shows/stations. They determine what their audience wants and then supply the content.

They learned their viewership wants this type of commentary so they provide it.

Cable news is just a tv show. They pretend its a public service or something elevated but it isnt - its WWE.
