Haarberg isn’t a real quarterback. But Kong was right that Haarberg was the best quarterback we had in Rhule’s first year.

I literally cannot even remember who else was at QB in Rhule's first year. Frost left the cupboard so damn bare Rhule should be given a congressional medal of honor for winning as many games as he did with a TE playing QB. Flat-out coached a TE up to win us some games in the darkest days of Husker football history.

How could you forget future NFL Hall of Famer Jeff Sims?

That guy whose knob you like to polish - he brought Sims to Lincoln to be QB1 and save the program.

But yeh, Kong was wayyyyyyy off in his assessment of QBs. And coaches.

What constitutes "a billion points" when it comes to college football lines? Just curious what other posters think.

I think 40 points is quite in line with that type of bombastic phrasing.

Anyways, I have 5k lying around ready to go if King_WRONG or anyone backing him wants to find their balls.

Well, Rhule did send Casey Thompson packing who had a decent (at worst) season for us. He then brought in "NFL caliber arm" Jeff Sims (HAAAA), had Heinrich Haarberg (lol) and had Chubba Purday (lol).

Had we retained Casey Thompson, year 1 might have looked better than 120th ranked scoring offense (18 ppg), 126th ranked passing offense (136 ypg) and the 115th ranked total offense (313 ypg) instead of trotting out 'turnover machine' Jeff Sims, 'can't throw a pass' Heinrich Haarberg, or 'wtf are you doing' Chubba Purdy.

Had Casey fully recovered from his surgery? If i remember didn’t Casey’s dad insist on him starting or something like that.

If memory serves me correct, Casey wouldn't have been ready until fall camp. But don't quote me on that.
Given how the QB position turned out that year, we might have been better off listening to Casey's dad. That's obviously hindsight though.
Maybe he doesn't get hurt in 3 games either like he did at FAU. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone with half a brain knows that’s just metaphorical for a lot. Only a dumbass would take it literally. And only a gaping p*ssy would arbitrarily assign a 40 point total to it in an attempt to weasel out of a real bet after beating your chest about how you can’t wait to bet the opposite.
