So my son is 9 and he told me today is Patriotic day at school and that he wanted to wear something appropriate. I asked him if he knew why today was Patriotic day and he asked me if I knew what day it was (meaning 9/11). We didn't say anymore. On the ride to school I asked if they talked about what happened today at school and got the indication they have not - maybe they will today. I asked if he had any questions and we had a little discussion about what happened, but I'm not sure he fully grasped the events of that day. Someone suggested '102 minutes that changed America' - has anyone watched that video? I think it's good to have these discussions, but I don't want to traumatize him either.

Bahhhhhhh, show him Loose Change and Fahrenheit 9/11.

To answer your question, no. Let me know how it is and if you think it was appropriate.

Best videos I've watched is Nat Geo Inside 9/11......it's got two parts to it......very informative......and appropriate. My children watched it when they were young.

My son watched it yesterday with my wife. She said it was more than appropriate. The little I did see it appeared to be a mix of actual footage and actors to tell the story. He didn't have any questions afterwards - although I'm sure there are some stewing that will come out in the next few days. He didn't realize there were people on the planes was the only thing he mentioned so far.

102 Minutes That Changed America is excellent. Raw footage in and around the WTC on the day of. Edited very well to match up minute by minute to the events as they occurred. I'd show it to my kids, but they're still too young to grasp.
