MSDH no longer putting how many they have tested in their lab. Only reporting positives and deaths from all sources public and private. Since a spike on 3/26 of 108 new, we’ve fluctuated between 95 and 84 for past 4 days.

847 total, 16 deaths, 1.89% CFR.

Seems more likely to me that the lower density in a rural state, combined with no large gatherings, just doesn't amount to exponential spread.

Unfortunately there will be rural areas all over this state and the rest of the country that will have symptomatic people who will never get tested, let alone treated.

Does anyone know of sick people being denied the test in MS because of age, symptoms not being exact, or no underlying health conditions? Still hard to get tested in Dallas. Must have active fever, shortness of breath, and a dry cough. If everyone is getting tested, those numbers are a positive sign.

I wish they would still report the number of tests at the depot. of health lab. An under represented value has to be better than no data right?

At the beginning of last week it was difficult to get tested on the coast if your symptoms were not exact.

Last I heard you had to have multiple symptoms and be in a high risk group or be a first responder. What I read last week said the higher throughput tests would start rolling out later this week.

It’s hard to know what to do with this data. We do know that it’s limited and that there is a huge backlog of test results.

So, it’s encouraging if we are testing the same criteria, we’re getting more and more tests through and the new cases is relatively flat.

The other side of that coin is that we’re limited by the capacity to test and we’re getting back the same number of results each day while the backlog piles up.

I honestly don’t know which one is going on with what we’ve been presented.

I'm glad, but, I don't know of anyone that's needed to be tested, or has it. I've got a family member that works in an ER in MS and they are testing after pre-screening people only, you don't walk up and just ask to be tested for no reason. She said they do have a lot of people wanting to be tested but if they don't have the symptoms they aren't testing. I saw an article this morning where half the residents of a nursing home had tested negative over a week previous but ended up with it eventually anyway. With that in mind, why would you test if you have no symptoms? My family member says no problem w/ supplies either, testing supplies or precautionary ones (gloves, gowns, masks, etc) as of yet either.

When testing requires a certain level to even take place, the numbers aren't even close to real. People are being required to have a fever of a certain limit, cough, etc. to even be tested. Those not meeting the criteria are being told to go home and self-isolate. No numbers any of us see are even close to a real representation of this. Testing has been a failure all over the world. Peak should be within the next 10-21 days.

It is unless they insist on doing gatherings anyway, like family get-togethers (from not the same house) and churches still meeting.

If possible, you test everyone you can. Symptoms for sure, then anyone with contact to a potential carrier, and eventually everyone with a pulse. The reason is a significant portion of people will get this and spread it with no symptoms whatsoever. Kids especially. Once identified as infected you can isolate and trace. It's exactly what South Korea has done.
