Watching this game, and man the memories. Winston Bennett, Sky Walker, Richard Madison, Roger Harden, Rob Lock, Ed Davender. Man, love watching those guys play. I had forgot just how good Walker was, dominates the paint, how high he got on his jump shots, and a monster rebounder.

Another thing I am noticing is the number of flops, so flopping is not a new thing. Just great to take a stroll down memory lane.

Cleaning out closet today and found a framed autographed poster of Sky Walker, Roger Harden, and Leroy Bird III.
Going to part ways with it if anyone is interested in owning it.

If you're gonna bring up '86, why bring up LSU!!!

We won 32 games. Beat UofL. Plenty of good memories that year. But LSU??!!

Damn, son.

And Dale Brown.
I can STILL see Ricky $@&#%?! Blanton running back up the court after he made that basket very late in the game. Waving his arms as if the building was on fire.

Tough loss.
Loved that team!!

Go Big Blue!!!

One of my favorite UK teams. They were undersized & resorted to a small ball, 3 guard lineup with Bennett & Walker inside. And, Walker was DOMINANT in the post. So efficient inside 15 feet & as powerful a dunker as I’ve seen at UK.

And, I loved their version of Jordans, called Kentucky Dunks. I still remember the excitement of opening them on Christmas morning, 1986, & getting to the Y ASAP to test & show them off, lol.

Yep, some LSU stooge just flopped, charge called on UK, Vitale called out the flopper.

LSU's zone is packed in the lane, UK's perimeter guys are are set about 15 feet from the basket

Was at that game in Atlanta in 1986. Blanton mugged Skywalker the entire game. Sky walker jumped near the basket one time and Blanton had a grip on his shorts. Thought Kenny’s pant were going to get pulled down.

refs were certainly blind that day

Would Davender’s shot at the buzzer have tied it or won it?

3 pointer start in 86 or 87?

For the record I think it would have simply tied the score because the 3 pt line looks deep, thus for the Hawks in the Omni.

UK has played UofL multiple times in the NCAA tourney, and SEC teams multiple times, yet in all these years UNC and the frauds in Durham have never had to play each other and rarely ever had to play another ACC team......hmmmm
No hmmmm about it. That is agenda driven.

The real question is how many times has UNC and Duke been put in the same region?

Prolly not many if any at all.

I wish we would’ve lost this game. We probably would have won the elite 8 game. Hard to beat the same team 4 times in a season.

They may have been only 6-8 and 6-7 respectively, but UK has never had two more ferocious players inside together. Sutton said, "give me a Kenny Walker and Winston Bennett and I'll go to war."

Loved that team.

Sutton should have had UK foul alot sooner and Blanton wouldn't have had that layup with 13 seconds left. Should have fouled with no less than 20 seconds left in the game.

I'm not old enough to remember, but I see this game brought up often. Must have been a real doozie..........

I think Blackmon shot the last shot but 3 pointer wasn’t until the next year

Being in the same conference and top 4 seeds on a pretty consistent basis helps them not be in the same region. I'm sure there are years it could have happened, but it you look at us and the other top teams from the SEC, I don't think we have been in the same region very often.

I wonder if any team has beat the same team 4 times in the same season ever?

My guess is no.

Yes. We beat Alabama 4 times that same year. Played them in the sweet 16 & LSU in the region final. That scenario led to the rule that teams can no longer meet before the region final if they have already played 3 times entering the tournament. If they play twice they can’t meet before the sweet 16 & if they play once they can’t meet before the 2nd round.

Just further proof of the screw jobs the selection committee has given us over the years. It’s not just a Cal era thing.

LOL. C'mon, they were a friggin 11 seed with 12 losses that just barely squeezed in the tournament. Nobody expected them to even reach that game. Or do you honestly think the Committee put them in the opposite side of our bracket knowing they'd make that improbable run to the elite 8?

Normally, if you get an 11 seed in the Elite 8 that's considered extraordinarily lucky ...only paranoid UK fans would take it as proof of a "screw job."

Playing Bama in the sweet 16, then LSU in the elite 8? Yeah, it was a screw job. Paranoid my ***.

That happened because the seeding criteria used to place far more emphasis on trying to keep teams in their geographic regional, which resulted in more matchups between teams in the same conference. However, the rules were changed after that season to try to prevent intra-conference matchups before the elite 8. Which is why we stopped seeing as many same conference matchups after the mid-80s.

Stop being so paranoid, folks. That didn't having anything to do with the committee trying to screw Kentucky.

**and, agaIn, the whole "screw job" theory hinges on the notion that the Committee knew than an 11 seed that just barely made the tourney would make a run to the Elite 8 ..which is a patently absurd thing to believe.

Watching the 1994 comeback now. Unbelievable!
We’ve basically fouled the last 12 minutes of the game and LSU only shot 37 total Ft’s for the game!

Talk about a stacked deck! UK would have had to beat 2 tourney teams 4 straight times in the same season just to “get” to the FF!
