He’s turned it around this year sure, but a couple weeks ago he was 9-6 and 0-2 in conference before Kam got hurt and before Lowe shut it down. It was a terrible start to the season, and you can say injuries all you want to but going back to last year the same problems occur in the way the team plays, there should be some improvement from year to year. Let’s just agree to disagree on everything else, how many years do you want to give him before he makes an elite 8 or final 4 or even just a year where we don’t lose 10+games in a season
How about we let him finish this season before ruling it a success or failure?

Considering the team that knocked us out had already lost to us twice… At the very least the game should have been competitive but it was apparent early on UT was winning that game. Overall for last year I can’t complain too much. He could have done better in the portal for that year and he lost way too many games that we had no business losing which took a lot of steam out of those big wins. Regardless of all that, S16’s are irrelevant here. We should make the s16 at minimum every year unless the team is a disaster like this year has mostly been.
I don’t really have a problem with last year given the circumstances but what I do have a problem with is some of our fans pointing towards that s16 as some achievement and a reason he should be kept. Too many around here have let the last 6-7 years greatly diminish their expectations of Kentucky basketball.
It could be worse. A fifth year senior a couple years ago would’ve gotten to see:
Covid, no tournament
9-16, failed to even get an NIT bid
1st round exit
2nd round exit
1st round exit
This decade has been some sadly dark times for UK basketball. The worst sustained stretch in UK history.
