  • Hartington is the county seat and the largest city in the county.
  • Established in 1857 and named for the cedar tree groves in the region.
  • Located in the northeastern part of the state, sharing its northern boundary with South Dakota via the Missouri River.
  • The county is approximately 746 square miles.
  • Chalkrock Lake and part of Lewis and Clarke Lake lie in Cedar County.
  • Lots of protected areas in the county dedicated to wildlife management.
  • Gavins Point Dam is a hydroelectric power plant built in the mid 1950’s.
  • Randolph, NE is claimed to be the honey capital of the nation, due to the number of beekeepers per capita.

  • Spent 1 year as an exchange student in Laurel, NE where he was offered a scholarship to play football.
  • First team All-State, leading Laurel-Concord to the state title in 2000.
  • Originally from Finland and was the first Finland native to sign a LOI for football with a D1 school.
  • Stood at 6’5” and 325 pounds.
  • Originially started on the defensive line and then moved to the offensive line after his sophomore season.
  • Played 9 games on defense and 22 games on offense at Nebraska.
  • 2004 Nebraska’s Most Improved Offensive Player where he started 11 games at right tackle.
  • 2005 Nebraska Lifter of the Year
  • 2005 Honorable Mention All-Big 12
  • Signed UDFA with the Carolina Panthers and also played on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad.
  • Currently the general manager for the Wasa Royals, a Finnish American football franchise.
