8 Man Thoughts/Predictions

I've been seeing a few preseason polls and other posts regarding 8 man and the upcoming season. I haven't seen anything regarding the future of the D3 game in Kearney. Has anyone heard whether they intend to keep D3 there all the time, or to rotate between the classes? My hope is that they rotate it between the three classes.

In my opinion, D3 might have the best potential championship, if we see a Central Valley vs. Lawrence/Nelson final, which is my prediction.

I also think this is the year that Shelby-Rising City makes the jump. They're my favorite to win D2.

I don't think the gap between Crofton and Sandy Creek is nearly as large as some think. Last year's game was a product of Sandy Creek having been there before and Crofton not having been. I think Crofton is in the same position this upcoming year as Sandy Creek was a few years back when they lost to Stanton in the semifinals. We all know how that turned out. I also have Sutton as a major dark horse in the D1 race. It sounds as though they may have gotten a transfer in that may make a big difference.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

I think it is currently an unknown on what games will be played in Kearney every year. The 6-man game for sure will stay there. The NSAA approved an amendment that says "any one of the 8-man championship games could be played in Kearney beginning with the 2027 season." So my take is there will be a future action taken by the NSAA board this upcoming school year to determine the Kearney schedule moving forward.

Sutton did get a transfer. Ian Spearman from McCook, John Spearman is his dad. John was a pretty solid football player for Sutton back in the late 1980's. Ian has had some injury issues but if he's healthy he can help them. Think they would like to see him take the QB job and run with it. They also need to keep the Hinrichs kid healthy as he got hurt last year and it set them back quite a bit. Have some good linemen and a good fullback as well.

I think Twin Loup is a major dark horse in the D3 race. Sounds like the Wolf kid from Central Valley transferred there and they already had a real solid squad.

Twin Loup is always solid with coach Kozeal as head coach & Yahya Harris is one of the best all-around athletes I've seen in recent memory!! Can't wait it'll be a fun year in D3!!!
