I show 114 teams declaring to play 8-man. Some interesting late declarations include Lutheran High Northeast (will be ineligible by all reports), North Platte St. Patrick's (moving down for the first time), and Palmyra (sounds like there was serious discussion to play 11, but will stay ineligible in 8-man).

D1 districts will be interesting to see what changes.

-Amherst Tri County and West Holt are going from eight-man to 11-man.
-From 11-man to eight-man are Bridgeport, Crofton, North Platte St. Patrick's, Superior, Sutton and Twin River. --From six-man to eight-man are McCool Junction and Silver Lake, and from eight-man to six-man are Brady and Garden County.
-Two 11-man cooperative sponsorship teams have dissolved. Bancroft-Rosalie and Lyons-Decatur will break into eight-man teams. Wood River will stay in 11-man, but Shelton will be playing six-man.

New cooperative sponsorship teams, both in eight-man, are Tri County Northeast (Allen and Emerson-Hubbard) and Riverside/Spalding Academy.

This could all change obviously with teams going up from D2 to D1 or down from D1 to D2. Just throwing a dart, going west to east in D1...

District 11: Bridgeport comes in, pushes Sutherland to District 10. If Morrill comes up, Grant goes east too.
District 10: NPSP and Sutherland join. They takes Hi-Line and Cambridge's spot. Grant may come in and it'll be a six teamer with Sutherland, NPSP, Maxwell, Dundy, Hitchcock and Grant.
District 9: Hi-Line and Cambridge slide in for Elm Creek (unless EC and/or Bertrand drops to D2)
District 8: Elm Creek takes Amherst spot. Forgot about Riverside, they may fall in this district too if they go up to D1 with the co-op with the Academy.
District 7: West Holt moves out to 11 man, Elkhorn Valley takes their place.
District 6: Crofton takes Elkhorn Valley spot
District 5: No change
District 4: Twin River comes in
District 3: Tri County is out, Sutton and Superior come in.
District 2: No change
District 1: No change unless Weeping Water and Cedar drop to D2.

I think Morril will be D1 next year, pushing Perkins County out of 11. Except for Bridgeport moving down from 11 man, that will be an incredibly weak district.

Pump the brakes on the districts……it won’t be an ‘even’ split of teams for D1 and D2.

All of the eligible teams will be split in half and classified D1 and D2. Then the ineligible teams will be dumped in with the D1 schools.

I would guess that D1 will end up being about 61 schools and D2 will be about 54 schools. That’s strictly a guess, but we know there are going to be ineligible teams (Wakefield, Madison, Palmyra, LHNE, etc…..).

Looking at the most recent numbers, I think St Pats will possibly slide in as D2.

I've been hearing that Dundy is going to be close to sliding into D2 depending on where the cut falls, they seem confident that they will be moving down.

Looking at teams in and out of 8man and the total number of teams, I think it is very safe to say the cut off for D2 will be 37 or 38 this cycle
