Evansville and Utah were really bad losses. An SEC road loss on a last-second three? Meh.

No, just no.

Since when is beating Louisville a goal for UK?

The only way losing to Evansville at home is acceptable is if the season ends with a final four run.

Louisville is a joke, it's not like they're the Toronto Raptors.

I can't imagine thinking "I'm good with getting my *** kicked by an 11 year old girl, just as long as I kick the crap out of my 12 year old little brother".
I'm good with getting my *** kicked by an 11 yo girl, just as long as I kick the crap out of my 12 yo bro. And go to FF several times winning it all every now and then. Believe me if we had beat Evansville and lost to UL these boards would be a lot nastier everything else being the same

Mmm, I have to disagree. We have lost to UL before, it really wasn't that bad on here, but a lot of people turned sour after the Evansville loss.

Louisville is a highly ranked team, anyone that gets ate up over that has other issues, but there isn't a single person on this board that thinks tge Evansville loss was cool.

I think it’s clear that every reasonable CATS fan expects a yearly one seed, at least a final four every year as the basis of tournament success (too many in a row and this standard becomes unacceptable), zero struggles during a season, high level basketball from start to finish regardless of roster make up, impeccable coaching regardless of roster makeup, for the crowd at Rupp to be better, and for Duke to lose every game.

I don’t know why that is unreasonable to anyone.

Very reasonable. Cal should have at least 37 titles by now. How hard would it be to win 2 or 3 in a year? Right?

It’s so easy even a caveman could do it.

Lets talk facts and not opinion. People such as yourself claim since 2015 Cal is almost Tubby.
UK past 4 seasons:
30-7 Elite 8
26-11 Sweet 16
32-6 Elite 8
27-9 Round of 32
115-33 for 77.7%
Average season 28.75-8.25
9 tourney wins

Tubbys Last 4
22-12 Round of 32
22-13 Round of 32
29-6 Elite 8
27-5 Round of 32
100-36 for 73.5%
Average Season 25-9
6 tourney wins

Thats a full 4.2% more losses and 15 less total wins. Tubby's problem was after that 2005 team he stopped recruiting and went 44-25 his final 2 years.

Now that we know its been in fact not Tubby numbers lets compare the top other teams since 2015.

From best to worst

Gonzaga (weak conference helps immensely here)
33-4 Elite 8
32-5 Sweet 16
37-2 Runner up
28-8 Sweet 16
130-19 for 87.2%
Average season 32.5-4.75
12 tourney wins

Villanova
26-10 Round of 32
36-4 Champion
32-4 Round of 32
35-5 Champion
129-23 for 84.8%
Average season 32.25-5.75
14 tourney wins

Virginia
35-3 Champions
31-3 First Round
23-11 Round of 32
29-8 Elite 8
118-25 for 82.5%
Average Season 29.5-6.25
10 tourney wins

Kansas
26-10 Round of 32
31-8 Final 4
31-5 Elite 8
33-5 Elite 8
120-28 for 81.0%
Average Season 30-7
11 tourney wins

UNC
29-7 Sweet 16
26-11 Round of 32
33-7 Champions
33-7 Runner up
121-32 for 79.0%
Average Season 30.25-8
11 tourney wins

we fall here: Stats posted above

Duke
32-6 Elite 8
29-8 Elite 8
28-9 Round of 32
25-11 Sweet 16
114-34 for 77.0%
Average Season 28.5-8.5
9 tourney wins

Michigan State
32-7 Final 4
30-5 Round of 32
20-15 Round of 32
29-6 First Round
111-33 for 77.0%
Average Season 27.75-8.25
6 tourney wins

So I assume if Cal is putting up Tubby numbers so are Coach K, Roy and Izzo? Sure I much prefer a top ranked team and 4 or less losses. I also realize that not sustainable every year and there will be down years and great years mixed in. Let it sink in that we are the best in history and average a 26-8 record. That's the best EVER.

It's called realistic expectations. It's not realistic to go 36-2 or even 32-5 every year. No one does and no one ever has. We are a contender 90% of the seasons and that's what makes us the best program in history.
Thanks for actual facts. Many don't like facts, their agenda, what ever it is goes out the window but they still try to push their opinion. Ofcourse these sites are for opinions, yours, mine and others seem to make the world go around.

Seriously, we have a ways to go. Our top 4 players need to be very consistent for this team to excel IMHO. We can't depend on, at this time, reserves to even come close to being as productive as our core 4, Hagan, Richards, Maxey and Quickley. We gave up 20 offensives rebounds to SC, that's a stat that we can't blame on our reserves. Another fact, if we take care of the ball and hit free throws, we win. This was a team loss just like we have team wins. Looking at the stats, take away the core 4 scoring and rebounding, look at that production, it's show where our needs are. I think by the end of the year some of these problem areas will be resolved.

Another ridiculous post. Nobody is saying this crap.

But I tell you what, with the talent we have coming through these doors, we shouldn't have 9 and 10 loss seasons, shouldn’t lose to sub 100 teams, shouldn't lose to sub 200 teams (especially at home).

We have 4 losses already. It's mid January and we have much tougher road games coming up. We have a second year 5* pg, a 2nd year 5* shooting guard, a junior center, a sophomore 5* forward and a legit 5* star 2 guard and we have 3 REALLY bad losses.

Excuse me for saying our coach has massively failed to this point this season.

Tell me I'm wrong? Tell me what part of my post is off.

Don't, don't, don't even play that stupid "youth" card. That will open up a can of worms that you don't want to open.
Reign it in Jeff, no need to get so worked up

Reign it in Jeff. I thought my post was pretty funny. It wasn’t directed at you as I generally agree with your takes.

Unfortunately there are some on the forum that are saying the things I wrote. I don’t really mind people that are critiquing the team’s problems. I do mind the multitude of people that only show up after a loss.

Forum is pretty miserable for a few days following any loss and once we win a couple of games it goes back to actual discussion.

As much as I love Cal it’s his put up or shut up year. This team has to make the E8 or FF or there’s going to be some interesting off season discussions.
Expound on that a little bit. What will be the nature of those discussions?

That's UK's all-time winning percentage(before this season) So basically that means throughout history you win 3, lose 1. I don't know why some people act like we're never supposed to lose.
You're dealing with people who honestly believe that we should fire Cal, and then take our pick of coaches, college or NBA, and that because we are the mighty UK, they'll come running. It's a special kind of spoiled here.

Cheating at work at the moment, but I could see some assistant positions being shook up. Cal at the moment is fine. But the fan base is getting a little rumblely. There needs to be some changes made at the assts positions though. We haven’t been the same since Antigua left.
