So one bad loss can haunt you forever? Puke losing to SF Austin did seem to hurt them as bad. It’s crazy to say one loss hold so much weight regardless of any other wins.

I agree with you totally, but those in the know say that is the way the NET is computed. If we don’t move up tomorrow after all of the losses this past week then it must be true.

This was almost a perfect weekend for us. The only thing better that could've happened is Florida State losing and Duke getting crushed a second time. With our remaining schedule and opponents remaining schedules, we are a lock for a two seed. We still have an outside shot at a one but we would need a lot of help. The two seed is us writing our own destiny, win and it's ours.

SFA actually went on a run and ended up at an 89 RPI and Duke went on to blow a bunch of decent to good teams out. Some of them on the road.

Evansville has tanked and we have yet to blow anyone out.

That there is why our NET rating is where it is and why Duke's is where it is.

Yes but Evansville lost their coach. Remember that if duke has a hurt player and lose it does not count. So if Eville tanked it shouldn’t count.

Colorado fell the most spots (6) in the NET top 30, followed by WVU (5). Baylor, Gonzaga, Puke and Auburn didn't move at all despite losing this week. UK gained 1 spot, up to 21.

Might move up a notch, or not. But we drop a few spots in the NET because Duke got blown out. Somebody’s gotta pay.

How many times have you seen Dayton play this year?
About 6 or 7 times, sorry, they aren't as good as the other 3 two seed possibles.

Again, they gave up 70 points at home to Duquesne.
Last ranked team they faced was Colorado on 12/21 and they lost.

In fact, they've lost to every ranked team they have faced.

Sorry, but I'm not impressed with 13 point wins over 3-11 Saint Joe and a 5 point win over VCU.

What exactly have they accomplished that tells you we need to avoid them?

Wait, first, tell me the truth, are you a Dayton fan? It feels like you're a Dayton fan.

Umm, the NET is updated everyday. We stayed at 21, Ohio State jumped us, Butler fell below us.

I am a Dayton fan. I mean, if we want to pick out games we are not impressed with, then I could say I am not impressed with a 5 point win by UK over a 13-14 Ole Miss team, or a 3 point loss at South Carolina.

UD can only play who is on their schedule and being from a smaller conference they don't get a lot of opportunities to play a Louisville, Michigan State, or Ohio State. Scheduling those teams for a team like UD is not easy. Their two losses were in overtime to a Kansas team that they led by 8 with about 7 minutes ago and let the lead slip away. And also to a good Colorado team in overtime on a three pointer at the buzzer.
UD is 25-2. I wonder if UK played Dayton's exact schedule would they have the same record? or better? or worse? Not so sure UK would have beaten Kansas back in November in Maui. And the same night that UD lost to Colorado, Kentucky lost to Ohio State. I've seen nearly every Kentucky game this year, and I know how they were playing on December 21st. Coming off the loss to Utah, even though they hung with Ohio State I dont think Kentucky was playing particularly well, (as Cal's teams often don't until early February)so I am not so sure they would have beaten Colorado that night either.

I am not saying UD would definitely beat Kentucky or vice versa. I think that both would present matchup problems for the other and it would be an intriguing game.

My point is that I'm guessing you haven't seen UD play enough to assess whether or not they are overrated, and you saying they would be the weakest 2 seed is based on them being from a smaller conference and not on how good Dayton is. Duke is on the 2 seed line and they lost to Stephen F Austin, Clemson, and NC State, three teams that may not even make the tournament. Florida St. Lost to a bad Pitt team and a very mediocre Indiana team. Louisville lost to freaking Georgia Tech and Clemson.

I hope UK and UD get a chance to play, and let the chips fall where they may. By the way, Obi Toppin says hello.

Toppin is the real deal but who would guard Nick Richards? You don’t play anyone about 6’ 9’ and that is Toppin who you can’t afford to get in foul trouble

I totally agree Nick Richards would be a matchup nightmare for UD. As Toppin would be for UK. I'm guessing it will be a by committee kind of deal, with a lot of double teams on Richards when he gets the ball.

as far as tournament seeding you are correct. Some fans will think the pools equal seeding so they will be upset if UK doesn’t get the seed they think they should based on the polls

UK should end up between 6-8 when the pools come out tomorrow which is right and gives them a chance to really move up into the top four the week after and a chance at getting one of the last two or one one seeds

All those teams remain ahead of UK comfortably. The polls are not relevant.

Anyone trying to predict what the committee will or won’t do is fooling themselves.

They make the rules up as they go and don’t apply the same standard to all teams.

We see it every flipping year. Can’t remember one time where I looked at the bracket and said, “You know what? They seeded everyone about where they should be!”

Trust me, you're new at this whole winning thing. Dayton has three very good dudes, no doubt, but they have zero good wins. They've lost all of their tough games and are benefiting from playing in a weak conference.

Toppin is an all world talent, but those windmill dunks and easy buckets won’t be there against a legit power 5 team.

List Dayton's best wins this year. It will be a very short list that probably has the Richmond Spiders very close to being your best win.

Yeah, you can talk about UK's bad losses in November and December, but UK has gone on to win at LSU, at Texas Tech, at Arkansas, at Tennessee, Louisville and beat Michigan State in the first game of the season.

Sorry, but Dayton would have a lot more than 2 losses if they played UK's schedule.

And those close games against Ole Miss and Florida, yeah, that's what happens when you play in a big boy conference. There are no easy wins.

The bottom line is, Dayton is the weakest of the potential 2 seeds and it ain't close. List Dayton's wins, then list the wins of the other three potential two seeds and you'll understand.

Just keep in mind, if UK and Dayton play, don't expect Toppin to get his normal numbers, expect him to be taken out. UK has too many guys to throw at him.

We shall see. I don't think you've seen Toppin play enough to realize how good he is. By the way against Kansas he had 18 points 7 rebounds 3 blocks and shot over 50% from the floor. Are they "big boy" enough for you?

To be perfectly honest I don't think either Kentucky or Dayton make it to the Final Four.
UD is going to have a tough time when they go up against a big strong physical team with a dominating center, which they're probably going to run into. I don't think Kentucky shoots it well enough from outside to make a run to the Final Four.

Kansas isn’t as big across the board as UK. UK has Nick Richards, EJ, Sestina and Brooks to throw at Toppin. KU has Dok Azubuike and they had DeSousa and Lightfoot at that time, but they play 4 guards and a big man.
Plus, KU was nowhere near the team they are now when UD played them.
I've just seen this too many times. A mid major with a great record lines up against a UK team loaded with NBA talent that is seeded low because they suffered some early season losses. It never ends well for the mid major that has a couple of really good guys. UD just doesn't have enough size, depth or talent.

I agree, UD is not a FF team, but UK can certainly get there. UK has 3 incredible guards plus a 4th that can get you 10 points off the bench. Maxey is a lottery pick.

UK also has a center that is top 3 in the country at his position and if EJ gets going, we will have a 4 man that will he a problem too.

Sorry man, I just don't see any way UD beats UK. If your best player was a guard, I would be worried, but that's not the case.

We don’t need to shoot it well from the outside to win. That’s been evident all year. We get to the line where we’re awesome, and grind it out.

You're right .UK can throw Sestina, Brooks, Montgomery and Richards at Toppin. But you're going to have to throw two of them at a time at him because none of those guys are going to stop him one-on-one and that's going to leave somebody else from Dayton open. That's the beauty of Toppin, he gets his points but he draws so much attention it just leaves so many guys wide open for shots. That's why UD is leading the country in field-goal percentage. .It's not just Toppin, they've got a lot of guys that can finish around the rim and knock down threes. I know UK is among the leaders in field goal percentage defense, that's why it would be an intriguing matchup. Maybe we'll get a chance to see it but probably not. Either way I enjoyed the banter with you.

I'm convinced. Uk might as well not even show up because Dayton has 1 great player. I mean, all those other teams might have had 2 or three great players, but Toppin is better than 4 guys put together.

I disagree with that. We are so much better in conference because we are making the 3 at one of the highest rates in conference ( 37%) . We are a good 3 pt shooting team. We just don't take a ton and we shoot soooo much better on the road. But we do need to make lets say 5-14 to win a game usually . When we should 8-19 we win going away .

In the last 3 road games we have shot 50% 66% and 50% from 3 btw.

Our 3 pt shooting is our secret weapon as teams and announcers are too dumb to look at stats since conference play and think we are a bad shooting team . Joke's on them.

If the Cats escape College Station with a win, then it will be time to start realistically talking about closing out the year with the intention of earning a 2 seed.

I'm trying to focus on one game at a time. This team has held my interest because I'm afraid to look away. We might just lose if they don't have my complete attention through the radio or tv. Go strong in College Station.

LMFAO, do you not realize that Dayton has tge least amount of weapons out of anyone in line for a top 4 seed?

If you think one Forward is going to somehow stump UK's defense, you're sadly mistaken.

UK won’t need to double Toppin, they might do that at times, but it's really not necessary.

But, UK can.put Richards and EJ in at the same time and rotate guys on him.

Keep in mind, Dayton has to play defense at some time too. That's going to be a real problem. Toppin can windmill dunk, but can he D up multiple 6 10 guys and not pick up fouls?

I hope we get the chance to see it. If you think someone else in line for a 2 seed is weaker than UD, please let me know who. If UD played in a legit conference, they wouldn't be in line for a 2 seed. They would have several more losses and probably be looking at a 5 seed.

Lol, false. UD is the second highest scoring team of any of the 16 teams that are in line for a top 4 seed. Only Gonzaga scores more.
it's clear by reading your posts that you haven't seen UD play 7 times. I'm guessing you've only seen highlights of Toppin dunking since you think that's all they have.
He shoots 37% from three. UD is in the top 30 and three point field goal percentage and leads the nation in field goal percentage.
To say that they have the least amount of weapons of any top four seed is obtuse on your part.

This cracks me up that he doesn't realize why the two highest scoring teams of the 16 just happen to come from the weakest two conferences in the country (of the top 4 seed teams)
