Year after year, there are two ways to reliably beat Iowa’s defense: have the patience to take what they give you and hit the underneath stuff all day long (Fitz was a tool, but he knew that Iowa would leave their linebackers in coverage and never adjust; it’s one of the reasons why Northwestern used to beat Ferentz like a drum most years), or have a mobile QB who can consistently move the sticks on 3rd and long by getting upfield once the pocket collapses.

Purdy surprised me last week, but I don’t think he matches up well with what Iowa likes to do on D. Sims might have been a good play if he hadn’t developed a case of the yips, but his confidence is shot. And HH is hurt.

So I think we’ll lose by some ugly baseball score, and then their obsessive, attention-seeking trolls will be here for the next 9 months bragging about their program’s latest Outback Bowl “appearance” banner. Fun times.

Nebraska fans were very classy after the loss Friday. Nebraska fans were the exact opposite of the trashy iowa fans at Kinnick last season. We’re just better people in general.
