Those are not bad ideas. But we still would have been steamrolled today.
OK we are more vulnerable without two high safeties. Not sure yet of the coverages on the longer passes. I recall a few times the Sooners almost took slants or posts to the house if they were completed. They almost scored 60 on us.
The corners made the tackle on those plays. We're not good enough upfront to play two deep safeties. We don't have a choice. Even Urban Meyer said as much.
We have played cover 3 a lot which has gotten torched. So it's not always two high which is our problem. Chinander likes to play man when he should play zone, and zone when he should play man. He has a terrible feel for the game and continually puts the defense in bad positions, and we certainly don't have the players to makeup for it. There's zero disguise to our defense whatsoever, so the opposing offense knows exactly what we'll do before the snap.
If I remember correctly, he blitzed a lot of Georgia Southern's game winning drive.
That's funny. Why would play action work if you can't Blick the defensive players. No defense is going to bite on a run play. We can't run the ball.
