Unrelistic expectations for a team that has had it's bullpen hammered by injuries this year and we are extremely thin. Last year we win the B1G and almost take down Arky in the regional and then lose really good experiece to graduation and the draft Hallmark, Povich, Roskam, Acker, Schwelly, Mojo and Hroch and you idiots complain and post BS like this. Morons should never be allowed to post and while you're at it, do yourselves a favor and get off the crack and come back to reality.

It is unrealistic to expect them not to lose 19-1?

Lazy take by OP. Bolt made a regional literally last year. He lost 90% of his contribution and lost 2 starting pitchers and their best returning bullpen arm to injuries this year. If you want to fire a coach for losing by a large margin, then Tim Corbin should be unemployed after last weekend.

Why do people feel the need to make excuses for failure? It's a lazy take by OP? Uh, this team was ranked to start the season and EVERYONE including Bolt expected them to be better than this. They are inexcusably bad.

The make up of the team is still the responsibility of the head coach. He picks the guys he wants on the team. He is responsible for having capable back ups. Is there a reason for some of the problems? Absolutely but the excuses have to stop somewhere!

We sure were willing to give him a raise for one good year, so firing should always be on the table for one bad year. No reason you should lose by 17 twice in the same year

Frost could coach basketball
Hoiberg - baseball and
Bolt - football

and the respective teams wouldn't have any worse win-loss records

Don't be that guy....no one likes that guy.

Someone could nitpick your post about being a sloppy run on sentence. A forum post is not a submission for an English course, nor is it a business document.

Eat a Runza and relax.

I like Bolt. I don't think I've heard him making any excuses. Maybe he has and I didn't see/hear it. Unfortunately fan frustration related to the laughable incompetence of our football and basketball coaches bleeds over into baseball. Obviously Bolt isn't getting fired and OP knows that, but a conversation about how bad we are is completely reasonable.

The raise was earned, a firing isn't.

The improvement from guys like Hallmark, Roskam, Acker & even Schwellenbach - not just offensively but defensively as well - under Bolt & staff compared to their numbers under the previous staff should give many an idea of what the staff is capable of. But not with some in Husker Nation, a closed eye fan base with limited abilities to see beyond the current product. Plus the immediate impact guys he recruited like Povich, Frank, Hroch, Bunz, Wynne, Everitt & Anderson are proof these guys can recruit to the level needed. We're also seeing it with current guys like Olson, Hood, Anglim, Wimmers, Brockett, etc - not to leave anyone out, unintentional. And folks will see it again with the incoming class - we've got some hungry dudes coming in.

Will Bolt will be the coach in 2023, and as long as he wants, at Nebraska.

The 2022 season has been a disappointment, and not one single time has coach Bolt made an excuse. Nor will he. He fully understands what it takes, and will continue to take, for Nebraska baseball to be successful. And I have zero doubt he will make the necessary roster moves to get us back in 2023.

Timmerman from Beatrice threw a complete game 1 hit shutout vs Bell West today. The future is bright and I'm excited to watch. Lots of young talent. There are fun years ahead.

Ya, I heard he dominated today. Tucker is a dude but he's a 2023 grad which means he won't be on campus till the 2024 season. I don't think he'll end up on campus though as he's getting A TON of attention from MLB scouts. 6'3", 200+ with an 89-92 FB, continued growth/projections and low mileage on his arm 👀 All combined, that's a scouts dream.

This summer will tell us a lot with him as it's a gigantic opportunity for his path.

Our 2022 class, with 16 players, is what I'm super excited about. We have holes filled and it seems as though we're still looking to add 2-4 guys. It's going to be an extremely competitive fall at Hawks Field.

the big ten is low mid-major baseball - keep Bolt but divest in baseball

the big ten's baseball RPI is currently 10th -- 5 places behind the Missouri Valley with teams like S. Illinois, Evansville and Indiana State

it's simply not a major college/power 5 sport in the big ten … the university made a conscious decision to sacrifice the baseball program when it moved to the big ten

One of the dumbest posts on this forum, in its history. And that says a lot.

2018 - 4 (tied 2nd most in tourn)

the big has not had a baseball national champion since 1966

there have only been ~ 3 teams make the college world series in the last 34-35 years
there have been over 270 slots in the CWS over this time span - the big ten has only filled 3 of them --
the big ten averages less than a team a decade advancing to the CWS

the big ten is a filler for the tourney -- much like the A-10 or the MVC in basketball

the average conference RPI is 8.9 over the last 10 years - this would slot as the sunbelt or conf USA in football

using the NCAA basketball tournament as a metric - how would you describe a conference that has only had 3 teams qualify for the elite 8 in the past 34-35 years?

College World Series appearances by conference

106 - SEC
103 - PAC 13
98 - ACC
80 - BIG 12

29 - big ten with only 3 the last 30+ years

National titles now dictate how good a conference is, or isn't. Oh my, you're setting records. Click.
LOL - you’ve come back at least 3 separate times to edit your post since “click”

if you can’t even make the final 8 of a tourney consistently you are mid major

Are you arguing that Nebraska should fold the baseball program? If so, put me down with Tim - dumb post. Unless you're a clueless moron you know the trend in amateur baseball is that the talent level in non-traditional areas (ie cold weather) is off the charts up. Nebraska fans love baseball and any moronic moves like you are arguing for would result in a **** storm of epic proportions. Nebraska can afford baseball, money is the least of our issues. Or at least it was until Moos stuck it up us sideways.

no not fold - just spend the minimum in a sport in a conference that isn't nationally competitive
