Reed was injured in game 5 and replaced on the court. He did not play game 6 and barely contributed in game 7. While Frazier had one of the greatest closeout final games in the history of the league.

Willis Reed was the inspiration and motivation for the Championship, but Walt Frazier was without a doubt the most valuable player.

The OG tip is up there with 69 game 5 and 69 game 7, Willis Reed/Clyde/DeBusschere game, as greatest Knick playoff victories. Awesome.

  • Jalen Brunson (2026) ā€“ Selected 33rd overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018 (won with the New York Knicks).
  • Nikola Jokić (2023) ā€“ Selected 41st overall by the Denver Nuggets in 2014.
  • Dennis Johnson (1979) ā€“ Selected 29th overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 1976.
  • Willis Reed (1970, 1973) ā€“ Selected 8th overall by the New York Knicks in 1964. (The draft only had two rounds in his era, technically making him a second-rounder despite his high draft position).

Was Mark Bryant not in attendance today at the Knicks ceremony? I didnā€™t see him on stage and he didnā€™t receive a key to the city along with the other coaches.

I thought I saw him in the back of a float. But I doubt if he was there he wouldn't have been onstage.

BTW, how good was Alicia Keys? Between her and the mayor they dominated the stage. And I say that loving my Knicks.

As a longtime Jerry fan, it even killed me when he finally won a title in 72 and for maybe the only time in Mr Clutch's career, he shot poorly in the finals. Is the only mvp of the finals to be MVP from a losing team. Remember vs the f'in celts, all game he dribbled a few hard dribbles, rose up straight and hit a jumper, or drove, found Bill Russell waiting for him, yet curled around the hoop and hit it off the board with enough english to get us 2 more points. The only good thing from these memories is remembering my brother Bob, rip 2020, who was a celt fan and watched most of those 60s game with me.

Both were great. Never did I think Iā€™d hear shoutouts to KP, Stoutmire, and Jeffries!

How about the Knick player who had the #33 jersey hanging above the stage with his name? Never heard of him and someone gave him a retired uniform number. Ewing's no less. How's that for a screw up?

So sorry about your brother...but as Lakers and Celts fans...I will bet you have LOTS of memories of you and him needling each other over those classic matchups
