Hopefully the new rules will create some stability in collegiate sports. Don’t know if this will help address the struggle with growing sports budgets and with the extent of compensation for players & staff creating the explosion of costs vs revenue.

Perhaps it is hoped to stem the tide of lawsuits demanding more playing time for a variety of legitimate and illegitimate reasons.

I am fine with this rule, but I think the better move would have been to require athletes to sit a year if they transfer. I know ow why they didn't go that route, they were tired of losing court cases, and they would have just had so many if they brought that back, but it would be better for college athletics.
