I know this is a small sample size with only two games but these 5 jump out at you.

1. We don't have a single passing TD
2. Our starting RB is only avg 3.0 ypc
3. We are 110th in Red Zone scoring %
4. We are 111th in 3rd down defense
5. We are 108th in penalties per game

As bad as those stats are, we only played 2 games and one was against the best team in our conference...

Another stat: we have yet to score a touchdown on a drive that we get a penalty on.

How about 1-7 in our last 8 games? That one sticks in my craw a bit.

******** I know it’s bad but holy cow...that is absolutely terrible. We are SO lucky we have history. At this point it’s the only reason I have a tiny belief we can win here. Man those are sobering numbers.

Another stat: we have yet to score a touchdown on a drive that we get a penalty on.

I will take it further:

Nebraska has total 25 drives this season. On 15 of those drives, the Huskers have either committed a penalty, a turnover, or put the ball on the ground due to a bad snap or juggled handoff/ pitch.

Another stat: We’ve only converted 1 first down after getting a penalty. And that first down came when Northwestern got a personal foul called on them.

That is crazy! 60% of our drives! Typically I would just say need to clean up our pre-snap penalties and turnovers, but clearly those are around to stay all season.

Yes, it is bad. Nobody is going to question that. It's not much of a surprise however given how many games we've lost combined for this year and last year.

Are we not regressing overall? It looks to me that we are worse than we were under Riley or Pelini

Heading for 3 loosing seasons

I feel like DCs have Scott figured out and in the moments they don't, our guys can't take advantage. Which you could argue is part of DCs having him figured out. "I'm gonna let you do what you're bad at" sounds like a solid game plan to me.

They stop the RB and then sit back kinda medium on everything else and just come up and tackle our late, off-target stuff to the flats.

I know I say it over and over but I see the same things Saturday with NU and Sunday with the Bears. Two teams with zero offensive strengths and a history of crappy OL play. The one that has popped to me lately is RBs not running to where the lane should be. Why? They don't trust that anything will be there, so they're accustomed to freelancing. Vicious cycle, line finally makes a nice lane and your RB is dicking around backside for a loss.

Zero downfield passing. Why? You need protection to throw deep, Bears can't keep Foles alive long enough to throw deep and Adrian just can't do it. SURE we have zero guys on the roster who can run a go or a post. Sure we do. Is it that, or can we not protect and throw well enough to justify running the guy's *** off?

Seems like opposing DC know what to do against us and it’s simple.

- Avoid the big play, keep everyone in front.
- Give Nebraska yards, eventually the field will get shorter for them and they don’t have the personnel or plays to score touchdowns or 50/50 chance of missing the field goal.
- Let Nebby drive, they will eventually get a penalty or will turn the ball over.

It’s that simple.
