The four star rating on Neyor is a bit puzzling. Two stars out of high school. Highly recruited as a transfer out of Wyoming. But has played in one game last year after tearing up a knee in August of 2022.

Sounds like the timing and rehab of the injury put him behind the eight ball in the Texas WR room entering 2023. Not many teams had a better WR room than Texas this past season. OSU only one I can think of off the top of my head.

I would take Washington's receivers over Texas's.

with nil does 85 scholarship mean anything? just pay for their college and a nil deal, if they are that good.

Have read that we may be in a good place with the ILB, Thompson and Alexander.

Love the portal, I always have.
It’s interesting. We’re going to benefit from it A LOT more than many schools.

Lesser schools are now the minor leagues, developing players ready to be called up to the big$. Recruiting, culture, and strong NIL will be our secret sauce.

The portal though may actually help FCS schools. They’re getting an influx of pretty talented guys who were just a notch below being able to play in the P5.

At a program like Nebraska that has valued walk-ons and had a large roster, I think it works out quite nicely. The questions will be how many kids can you keep around and for how long? And second question is what type of player is going to take a no scholarship offer/NIL offer?

Agreed. But, from practice reports during fall camp back in '22, he was doing exactly what Adonai Mitchell did this year. Can he regain that confidence to go in and out of breaks? Remains to be seen. But, he has pretty big upside if he gets past that mental hurdle.

If we get all five of these guys or even four of the five I will be beyond ecstatic. Rhule has totally reshaped our roster and really upgraded the talent level. His ability to get guys to even look at Nebraska given how many losing seasons in a row we have had is flat-out amazing. The dude can recruit. The best recruiter we have had since Callahan. And given our diminished "brand" since the Callahan years I would say he is even better than Callahan.

Callahan is overrated. He was recruiting kids who watched us play in title games growing up. Being a better recruiter than Frank or Bo is what people remember.

Blake was an awesome recruiter but I'm not sure he was a guy you want around too long or you might up on probation.

I agree about Callahan. Therefore, I would contend that Rhule is our best recruiter since Osborne.

We'll see I guess. Anymore, we seem to be a program obsessed with making proclamations before anyone has actually done anything.

You could say the same thing about message board posters. Not a shot at you, just in general.

I don’t want a third stringer from any team, especially guys with health questions and who also quit when his team was preparing for the playoffs. I’m puzzled by this interest.

Was Osborne a great recruiter? Certainly in the 90s he was but that is when Neb was on top of the college fb world. A perennial top 10 team during his tenure, I remember several years where he only signed one recruit in the top 100 (Emfinger). For a school that is is the running every year in the 80s and 90s…not sure that’s great. What he was great at was identifying talent and developing it (e.g. Mike Rucker, Neil Smith, Trev Alberts, Zack Weigert).

Ummm….actually identifying talent IS what a great recruiter is….where is Max now?

Osborne filled a room up when he walked in. He was the epitome of gravitas.

Nebraska was by far the best developmental program in our heyday. We recruited and developed to our system better than anyone else.

Too soon to tell. Many of Callahan's recruits produced at a pretty high level. Time will tell if Rhule's recruits do better.
