Fully agree...not saying rutgers would win but Ash completely killed any shot at winning by playing scared...unreal to think the defense would be good enough to shut them down

Great effort for sure and we see the improvement but in game decision making extremely shaky tonight and will be worrisome going forward

Everyone bitching about the first 4th and 1 is Monday morning QBing. At that point it's 10-7 and RU defense was dominating the Wash offense. They hadn't proved they could move the ball and playing the field position game made sense, and was in line with the bigger game plan of running down the clock and shrinking the game

After seeing how Udub stuffed the offense at the 1, I really can't fault Ash for the call. Hindsight is 20/20.

I'm not bitching. There's a reason I'm not a football coach and they are D1 coaches, but in the moment, my first thought was to go for it. But, like I said, that's why they're paid to do this and I'm not.

Our defense was playing well and it was close enough where you gotta play the field position game. Our OL also couldn't get a great push in the short down situations.

it is not Monday morning QBing if you say it as it is happening....which I did, as did many others

if you want to win when you are a huge underdog, you take a couple of gambles.... when on the other teams side of the field, its a no brainer....go for it.... on your side, a little bit more risky, but you still do it.....you gotta take the chances when you have them.

The minute I saw the specialists come out I couldn't believe it.

Much improved team..so have to give Ash and staff credit for that. But play calling and in game decisions still baffle me after a year and one game.

not to mention what a boost of morale for the offense if they were allowed to go for the 4th and ones, and make it....

If you are playing a team that is a close match, on the same level as you, I can understand somewhat, letting the game lapse into a defensive battle, punting the ball.....

but here we had real opportunity to stay with a powerful team, and we squandered two chances.....as I see it.....the offense needs to stay on the field as much as possible.

Agree 100%.

And yes, our defense was stopping them at the time.

But our offense was moving ball effectively too. Not many negative yardage plays..and all we needed was a yard.

If there ever was a time to go for it...it was then. Don't like conservative coaching with a below average or average team.
