I don’t know what Frost said to him on the sideline, but most of the first half AM played with very little confidence. What I saw from him in the second half is what makes him a special talent. If he can maintain that level of confidence, then I feel much better about the season.

Are we reading all those inside and outside zone plays?

He was a very reluctant runner this season up until the 2nd half - perhaps even making incorrect reads to avoid running the ball

The poster's here can be a joke. They live in a false history of glory days mauling mediocre to bad Big 8 opponents ( excluding Oklahoma), and glorify decent past players to God like status. Give me Martinez, Robinson and MO Washington over Tagge, Kinney and Rodgers as sophomores/freshmen anytime. The latter were solid and steady, but as dynamic trios go I'take our current batch. Give Frost another two years to finish stocking our lines and we will be ready to reclaim our glorious past. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the roller coaster ride to the 6-6 or 7-5 and a bowl I have predicted for the past year.

Excellent post and well stated sir. However, with full respect, the Jet takes 2nd place to nobody imho.

Career high for yards. O ints. Bench him. RollingLaughToo many glass lickers on here. You know who you are. :(
Glass lickers? You're funny. Not really. Have you stopped and asked yourself why we trailed most of the game even though we had 700 yards of offense and these great stats from Martinez? The kid continues poor decision making and turnovers. Even with the great stats, the discussion on his benching is justified. Please pretend like you know something about anything.

IMO only...the play calling in the second half lent itself more to AMart's strengths and looked more like he did last year, whereas first half and some of the previous games play calling had him more in the position of a "traditional" pocket QB

One thing I noticed going through the game thread is how pathetic some guys are. Its like they don't come out except to show how $#!++¥ of an attitude they have, and to see how toxic of an atmosphere the can create.
Read only what DERHusker posts.

The dorks that think he needs to sit for a series think he would have ended up with 900 yards and 6 TD's if he was able to "see things from the sidelines"

Bench for the game? No. Bench him for a series to send him a message to pull his head out of his ***? Your'e damn right. He should have sat out a series.

You don’t do that to a captain and the leader of your offense. What kind of message does that send?

I should right? Because he is one out of how many who didn't give up? He is one who is behind the guys 100%, not 79% WHEN the Cornhuskers are winning.

So no. I stand by what I posted. You can choose not read it if you don't like it. ;)

I'd expect a captain to not be afraid to block to try and help his RB out. How many times has Lamar Jackson been called out for avoiding hits. AMart shouldn't be immune from criticism.

He was very lucky to have 0 INT and also very lucky none of his WR left that game in an ambulance. You're also glossing over his two fumbles and falling down in the open field in the red zone.

He busted out in the 2nd half but that first half was ugly. And if you think he was great passing and nothing is ever wrong ask yourself why Frost was dialing up an overwhelming majority of runs down the stretch.

The way he ran in the end is the way he needs to run all the time. Kid has had the yips, I don't wanna bench him forever but I wouldn't have been mad at seeing Vedral a series.

Frost had the yips in early 96 too, doesn't mean the kid will never be good but right now they aren't a consistent offense and he is part of that.

You can pretty much predict if Amart is going to make a bad decision right after the snap. If he does that little hop, he isn't comfortable.

I think some of you guys need to reset your expectations this year. This is not going to be a great team or a team that wins the west, is it possible sure but not very likely.

This game we spotted a team 21 points and came back to win. The offense has 32 first downs and almost 700 yards of offense, that's an effective day against anyone. The offense however turned the ball over 4 times on the road and that is something we will not overcome against a better team. The defense played well in spurts and really bad in other spurts.

It's clear to me at least at present Wisconsin is the class in the west and Iowa is behind them. We are mixed in with the rest. If we get better we might beat Iowa but I think Wi will destroy us this year.

I am shooting for a bowl game and hoping we avoid embarrassing losses. If we do better than that I will be very happy

Just needs more consistency. He's a star. Flashes brilliant and is our best all-around QB since...ever?

TMart was unreal too.....AMart a better passer.....TMart left opponent's secondary in the dust with unreal acceleration. Haha....they were/are both amazing!

What kind of message does it send to the team when your QB had the chance to lay an easy block to spring the running back for a nice gain and he chooses to stand there? Love the kid, but he needs to toughen up and get his head in a good place. For 50 percent of the first four games, it has not been there. We babied the other Martinez and look where that got us for 4 years. I hope it doesn't happen to this kid because he has a ton of potential.

Ha...next week it will be 175 yards and 4 picks.
I am really hoping for the best and would love to be wrong and would gladly eat crow next week, but this just doesn’t look like a team that can handle the conference’s best team after the way we handled one of the worst.

Wrong. Totally wrong....

TMart when healthy was simply sensational. He wasn't surrounded even remotely with great talent (Oline, blackshirts, etc). He was to a somewhat large degree a one man team.

Absolutely. I get frustrated too, but the amount of irrational knee jerk posts on here after bad plays is too damn high.

Knee jerk? We're 16 games in. Perhaps before posting another sheeple comment you should pick up a dictionary and understand what the term means.

Really? Go back and look at those rosters TMart had two NFL RB's in the backfield with him, good WR's and really good TE. The online was also respectable

I most respectfully disagree sir. We'll never know for sure......but my guess is that a TMart with Frazier's OLine & blackshirts would have been truly unstoppable. Haha.....of course they were unstoppable anyway....but I think even more so with a TMart. That kid could have run circles around Frazier or AMart. However, please don't take me wrong.....Frazier & AMart are/were terrific! I just think TMart was an incredible weapon.

There is no doubt this has not gone the way we all hoped for when Frost took the job. We are committed and I believe the best path forward is to stay positive but dial back expectations. We need to look long term, if this implodes and the fan base revolts NU football as we want to see it will be toast for the foreseeable future

Message boards overreact both ways. There was overreaction in the heat of the game. Is the overreaction now that the game was won any different? Now we’re proud and impressed with this team?

This was the fourth game of the season against the worst team in the west division, and we scrambled to come back in the end and squeeze out a victory. We got the win, and yes I’m glad we got the win. But I’m not going to put on my blinders and overlook an incredibly sloppy and undisciplined performance that should not be happening at this stage of the season.

Proud of the team??? Absolutley. They fought their tales off when a very short while ago they would have mailed it in and lost, lost big. Impressed? I think most here have acknowledged the sloppy game.. But a sloppy game by the team... Martinez wasnt the only player who fumbled. Nor was he soley responsible for the 100 and however many yards in penalties. It seems that people have dug their heels in so far with this notion that Martinez sucks and that hes a bum that they jump in any thread giving him credit and throw all the teams woes at him...

You can't possibly be serious. NU's OLine & blackshirts in say 2012 was even in the same galaxy as 1995's OLine & blackshirts? Well.....we'll just agree to disagree. No biggie.

GBR!!

Top, I'm not trying to beef with you, but this was Illinois, a team we were favored by 13 points. Can you really look yourself in the mirror and think that this would be the case four games deep into Frosts 16th game? This team, coach Frost, and Martinez have a hell of a lot of work to do. This was the easiest game on our schedule for the rest of the year. Look at the big picture. C'mon, man.

big picture: it's always better to bench your starting QB when things get dicey than to let him do what he's supposed to, which is rally and lead the team.

when things get tough, Chuck heads to the bench!

But that's what makes this all the more maddening. I understand not having the talent in place yet. That is a work in progress. And I saws huge things from Wandale R. yesterday. He without a doubt has the best vision of any of our RBs.

What I don't understand is having the same issues we had in Frost's 1st few games as our head coach. The one thing a coaching staff can almost immediately impact is penalties, undisciplined and sloppy play. We look as sloppy as we did the first few games last year. That BS needs to stop!!
