You do realize that probably 99 percent of the teams do that week in and week out !I am excited to see if we continue to defer if we win the coin toss
not our Frost-led Huskers for the first 3.5 years of his tenureYou do realize that probably 99 percent of the teams do that week in and week out !
I'm excited to see if the OL can go without a penalty on the first possession.I am excited to see if we continue to defer if we win the coin toss
If, and I mean IF our offense didn't score we the trotted on our All American punter to pin them deep.High turnover prone Offense….
That could be considered as a troll post..I look forward to seeing how big of a dip Frost has in his lip on the sideline and then the post game pressor
Or after a TV timeout!I am excited to see if Nebraska will need to use a timeout on the first offensive play after the opening kickoff in the 2nd half.
TO was a master at using the weather especially the wind to his advantage. That was another reason they would deferI remember, (6 YO me), asking my Dad, in 1994, why we deferred!?! He'd tell me it was TO's strategy and something like "So we can wear them out and dominate the 2nd half".
Did we ever.
I believe the biggest reasons are that if you get a stop on the initial drive, your starting point is typically better than it would be than it would be if you take the opening kick. A typical kickoff will travel 60 to 65 yards, the average punt does not. Also, getting the 2nd half kick will allow you to typically have more possessions in the 2nd half when the game should be/ could be on the line.TO was a master at using the weather especially the wind to his advantage.
