How can this be? I just saw on here last week that we were out of the running for a national seed.

Exactly. A sweep in either direction can move the needle. After Arkansas, Miss. State dropped to 9. After Georgia, Miss. State rose to 6th. Not expecting it to happen, but imagine what a sweep either way this weekend would do. One would be fantastic and solidify a Top 8 seed. The other would be devastating to a Top 8 Seed.

Let’s hope the Dogs win the first 2, and lock up the series.

We're number 4 in RPI right now.

Samford is a tough 4 seed for sure. They have developed a really solid program there that can compete on a national level. I've always thought playing them at their place before the SEC season is a good road test for us. We should do that more often.

Anybody who you run up against in the tournament can beat you though.

Non-Conference Teams we should play more home and away's with:
Samford
Tulane (solid program and location)
Southern Miss (need to keep this series going yearly / maybe play one in Biloxi as well)

If we even care who the #4 seed in our regional is, we don't have anywhere near the team I think we have. I really don't even much care who the #2 or #3 seeds are.

We played for a national title in 2013 and it took everything we had to get past Central Arkansas in our Regional (this was after they took 2/3 from us in the regular season).

Why? Because they beat us in 2012 with players that aren't there anymore?

No. Because I see them as stronger than the typical 4 seed (they are top 90 in both RPI and boyd's world ISR) and they are close geographically and familiar with us. Those are some of the ingredients for a 4 over 1 upset. What happened in 2012 doesn't factor.

While I don’t fear Samford, I’d much prefer a SWAC or MEAC four seed myself.

This. Want to be able to save Ginn and Small without even thinking about it. Give me a flopping fish instead of a program that is used to going toe to toe with SEC programs.

Anyone you play in a regional is going to be a team that won their conference tournament. When you get to the postseason you're going to have to beat good people. Even Southern out of the SWAC beat LSU this year. It is what it is in the postseason and I like our odds in Starkville against anyone. Even a Samford team we already beat on the road.

I like our odds of beating them too. There are just much weaker 4 seeds I'd rather face. I had no idea this would actually bother someone.
