Don’t know how to post the link on Sea of Blue. Anyway it says this should be Cal‘s recruiting plan heading forward. 4 transfers, 4 freshman, 4 returnees, and 1 KY Kid yearly. What do you all think? Sounds good to me.

I’m good with the overall concept with the exception of 1 Kentucky kid. The only reason that should happen is if there is a Kentucky kid playing at a really high level. High enough to compete with the others. Are they accounting for some freshmen to go after year one?

THIS IS A RANT!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ IT....THEN STOP READING RIGHT NOW!!!

I've given you plenty of WARNING. FYI...if you think John Calipari Hung the Moon...skip on over my rant below.

How about the 9 MILLION DOLLAR MAN (How much is he really being over paid?) build a UNIVERSITY of KENTUCKY BB team that will be successful without ONE and GONE (it used to be called one and done) then build upon that? Can His Highness do that?

Is One and Gone the only way? Nope! See the 2021 NCAAT.

Now UKBB is headed into the Transfer Portal ERA. Great!

So His Highness NOW needs to depend on other coaches to develop players to play at UK? SOLID!

How about DEVELOPING some quality Seniors/Juniors/Sophomore players like other UK coaches have done in the past while sprinkling in some QUALITY FRESHMEN that with will become quality Seniors/Juniors/Sophomore over time? You know...players that want to learn and grow? What's wrong with that?

I'm sure there will be some His Highness *** Huggers that will storm in and debate that ^^^^ (I already know who they are) because UKBB can BUILD UP using the transfer PORTAL BECAUSE HIS HIGHNESS IS NEVER WRONG!

The PORTAL is nothing more than the latest version of One and I'm Out Of Here for UK.

Anyway, College BB HAS become a joke IMO...and that's sad. SERIOUSLY...IT'S A JOKE ANYMORE!

Damn, I wish some people on here would go back and watch the final 4 runs prior to HIS HIGHNESS. There were A LOT of FUN UK TEAMS back then.

FYI...UKBB DIDN'T START with Calipari.

It started LONG BEFORE HIS HIGHNESS ARRIVED IN LEXINGTON!

It’s not Kentucky, it’s not Calipari....it’s just college basketball. It’s different now and just the way it is. Before you go pointing to this team and that team keeping a class of recruits 3 and 4 years, they are few and far between. Anyone with any chance to recruit top 100 talent year in and year out knows most of them won’t stay but they know they can use them to win. The real problem is the NBA and NCAA can’t figure it out. Now we have this crazy transfer portal.

There is a problem with the math.
Only 4 returnees out of 13. Of the transfers, not all of them will only have 1 yr of eligibility. Let’s say 2 of the 4 transfers have only 1 yr of eligibility, and if have 4 returnees then on average one of them is a Sr. That means you will be losing 6 each year to either transfer out or draft early, and 3 to graduation.

Three things here:

1. Get guys with a good amount of college basketball experience.

2. Get the best talent available.

3. Get multi skilled players. Preferably guys that can shoot, dribble and pass at least.

That’s the recruiting numbers I’m looking for.

We've just been ahead of the curve again when it comes to transfers. This is a new problem for college basketball though.

Why put quotas on the roster? Simplify, get the most talent you can.
The real problem I've seen is with the X's and O's, not the Jimmy's and Joe's. Our offense is putrid, and we don't seem to have any sort of system. The DDMO is long dead, and we seemingly replaced it with letting the players improvise. It's not working and it's ugly basketball.
I keep waiting for a system to emerge.

We all love quotas don't we. How many transgenders in that number? That is important
