68% winning percentage. No SEC title and 1 win in SECT. Not in NCAA tourney last year, no NCAA wins this year. Two losses in a row to ND. Two losses in a row to Ark (I believe). Two losses in a row to UT. Lost to a 15 seed in first game.

If he runs his mouth again, I hope someone throws this in his face when he does. Fire his butt.

I never thought I would say this, however, Cal has turned me into a UK Football first fan. GO CATS!!

Just curious how bad does it have to get before you, as a fan, become concerned, with the direction of the program.
Here’s what I’m seeing in these forums. It first started with looking at 7 years, then 5 then 2 years. It’s only fair especially with coaches like Cal, Williams, Self, K and the lie to judge by decades. A traditional coaching and recruiting strategy may have you prepared to compete for a title every 3-5 years. Approximately every 10 years a good program may be truly competitive twice during that time. The only reason people like to use the last 7, 5 and now 2 years is because it makes their argument seem more valid. Just like when people try and compare Cal to Tubby. There is no comparison to their tenures. It’s not even close. Cal was at a .810 win percentage through 2019. He had been to 4 FFs in a 5 year period (Wooden, K and Cal are the only three coaches to ever accomplish this) with a NC and runner up. Cal also had two 38 win seasons during that time as well. (Cal owns all three 38 win seasons in the NCAA and the only NC with 38 wins.) Couple that with 6 SEC season and tournament championships. 2015 isn’t the benchmark or start of Cals success at Kentucky.

Your right, 2015 was the end of Cals success at UK. He has had legitimately one team since then in 2017 that had a chance at the title. One team in 7 years. During this time we also have a losing record against top 25 teams. Without looking I can damn near guarantee you that Duke and Kansas have winning records during that same time frame against top 25.

We are fading fast as a program, top players use to come here because dammit we were the university of KY. Now they come here due to us being a stepping stone to the nba. Occasionally we get an Oscar who just wants to play for UK but that is getting rarer and rarer. Cal has killed every UK tradition built over decades in just one. He no longer promotes UK, the school, he promotes the effing nba. I honestly don’t care if a team made up of nothing but former KY players wins an nba championship If they don’t accomplish anything while they are here. cal caters to his one and done prospects and takes a dump on kids whose dream was to don the blue and white. He has even brain washed fans in to turning on the only in state player we have on scholarship and calling him garbage. F’ck cal and the horse he rode in on.

To be fair, I believe you should throw out last year's record. That was an outlier that does not reflect Cal's overall performance as the UK coach.

As I said in a thread , BCG ‘s 2 years was 40 wins and 27 losses and 1 sec tournament win and no ncaaT wins but at least made the NIT where cal missed the post season all together. that’s how far cal has fallen now

Not joking. We are at risk of becoming Indiana now so people need to put pressure on Mitch too
Remember when IU refused to acknowledge that the game had passed Knight by and they slowly slide into mediocrity while UK was on fire with a young and hungry Pitino? Same thing is happening at UK and the numbers support it.

No. Covid is no excuse as everybody had the same rules. Cal chose to build his rosters from the ground up every year when many of us said it was a stupid way to run your program and build a roster. And besides, that was a poorly constructed roster that would’ve been lucky to be .500 in a normal year. That team had no PG, no shooting and no inside game.

And arrogant comments talking down on fans, turning the program into a G-League pit stop, highest salary in college basketball etc...
He doesn’t talk down to fans. Just to the sickening underbelly of our fanbase. They deserve it.

We had a 76% winning percentage this year while our historical percentage is 75%.

We could have a run over the next 8 years where our percentage is 78% and the 10 year average would still be below the historical average. That's how bad 2020 to 2021 was.

It's dumb to use that bad year as a weight to pull down this year.

This year was fun and didn't suck until we lost in the tourney and because of that Cal should feel the heat. Worst loss likely in the history of UK.

I'm very upset over this loss and since 2015, I've watched our beloved program turn into an NBA draft farm. Calipari isn't interested in winning another title, he is more interested in the NBA draft.

We lose to TN, Auburn, and Arkansas every year now. Calipari didn't call a timeout again and thus, let Saint Peter's control the tempo of the last 3 minutes. Up 6 and lose which reminded me of the 2015 Final Four.

Let's face it, we created this monster by getting comfortable and not criticizing Calipari after the 2016 second round loss to Indiana. Kentucky should have more than one title with the guys he brought in. He is a good at recruiting, but terrible coach.

About like my retirement account. I keep pouring all this money into it and I’m getting nothing in return.
What are you invested in to get nothing in return? The market has gone up since 2009. Sure it looks bleak now and likely the next 5 years but there's no excuse to have not made money the past decade+.

Just investing 6k/year into an S&P index since 2010 would be around 160,000.

Keep investing and don't pay attention to the ups and downs. The worst thing you can do is look at your investments in harrowing times.

2019 had a legit shot at a title. Virginia and Texas Tech weren't any better than 2019 uk. But your overall point remains.

If a program has top 3 recruiting classes consistently and players going to the NBA every year then you should be beating 15 seeds, not to mention the embarrassment of a season ago with 3 players now in the NBA that didn't even make the tournament. Something bad is wrong, Saint Peters probably saved Kentucky from worse embarrassment by losing to Murray. I don't see it getting any better as long as Cal is here, If you did a poll statewide I think you would see that most Kentucky fans are not happy with the way it's going.

Cal has slowly eroded the passion of this fanbase. He has taken the passion and the love of this fanbase and killed it. Took away the things UK was known for over the years.

Thsi fanbase traveled like no other and still does, but not like it did before, fans are blowing off games. The OAD killed the connection of fans and players. At first we were all drunk on it, but now we all have a hangover from it. Fans would save and mark when UK would be in the Maui every 3-4 years. No more of that. Cal kept UK out of the Phil Knight tourney. Why? Nobody reall knows. Senior night basically gone.

UK games were must see TV no matter who they played. Now folks are sort of meh about most games. Us Diehards still are, but even some of us are letting go of it.

I really don't want to say this because I didn't ever really fully liked him, but Pitino coached team runs Saint Peters off the floor tonight. Doesn't struggle to beat Vandy in the SECT.

When Pitino got UK rolling, they stayed rolling. 5-6 losses was a bad year. Teams were intimidated by UK. Now teams punk UK. This all lays at the feet of Cal.
Great post spooooot on!

Keep riding Cal's jock buddy and make sure to pick a new team to root for, along with the rest of the Calunatics after your chubby king is out of Lexington (hopefully ASAP)

I'm talking about the downturn the past several months. Sorry, I should've been more specific. I know it will bounce back eventually just don't think it will with the nitwit in Office.

Fair, just don't look as that causes too much stress. Just remember the market is cyclical, it can be up 20% one year (46's first year) and down the next (so far 5%).

If we acted based on downturns we'd miss out on so much. Market was up almost 50% under 45 pre covid but fell all the way down to 44 levels. If one got out then they'd be at a loss those 3 years. You stay in and your portfolio is back to where it was in Feb 2020 by November 2020.

Paying attention to daily fluctuations and whatever the news is trying to convey is just a way to make a horrible financial decision. We can't let that affect us.

Well yeah everyone knows last year sucked. That’s behind us. We won 17 more games this year. Just a really bad showing in the tournament. And we were trending down towards the end of the year. But at the beginning of the season after last years 9 wins, if someone told you we’d win 26 total games without telling you our result in the tournament, you’d gladly take that. Most would

After last year. Cal had to get UK to a FF at the very least. Since he didn't get past the 1st round as a 2 seed, he failed as bad as last year imo.

It ISN'T behind us. It's always in front of us because Ca$h Cow can't seem to redeem himself for such a poor performance.
