We get too caught up with star rankings. Just develop a culture of hard work and excellence, get a bunch of local guys, and we will be just fine

With all due respect, Frost's offense won't work with a "bunch of local guys." No matter how hard they work. You are going to need to find at least a few players with crazy speed from other states, particularly Florida, Texas, and California.

Speed, speed, and more speed are the type of players being offered. Star gazers will be upset, but they will target players that fit their system, just like Oregon did.
What? You don’t think guys that can run are in demand and ranked high? You don’t think Oregon recruited well? At Oregon Frost was responsible for signing 15 players, 12 were 4-stars. Look at the guys this staff has offered the last two days, they are going after the best. If you think they just plan to sprinkle some fairy dust on a bunch of 2-stars, you are sadly mistaken.

It looks like you misunderstood my reply to the OP. The OP asked why Frost and his staff were 3* happy. I am only saying they are going to recruit guys that fit their system regardless of rank, 5* and 2*.

OK. Sounds like we agree. That’s actually one of the things I really like about SF, he’s a system coach, that doesn’t have to go after all the same prototypical guys as everyone else. But guys that can run are always on demand

Just wondering why Frost and staff are going offer crazy on 3 star guys? Not trying to sound like an ***. Just curious the reasoning. With all the offers going out there you would think they would be targeting some 4 and 5 star guys as well.
Do they know this late in the game the odds of getting a 4 and 5 star guy is slim so they don't want to waste their time? Are they just more accustomed to going after the lower guys at UCF so that is what they are doing here? Do they not care about rankings and are just going after a certain type of player?
Do you even read any recruiting updates?

I’m not real worried about 4 and 5 stars just yet. I’m more interested in having guys who will develop under this staff. I believe exactly what Frost keeps reporting, have to get guys to work hard and that’s what this program needs the most.

Of course Bookie got his 5th star, he decommitted from us. Now if we some how get him back, he then will lose it magically become a 4 star player again with some excuse following.

I agree. The 4 & 5 star talent will come. I have confidence that this staff will turn the program around.

Definitely don't expect this class to be full of 4 and 5 star guys but recruiting rankings matter. It's like buying a lottery ticket with a 1 in 2 chance of winning, 1 in 3, or 1 in 5. You're gonna win eventually with all of those tickets but you're gonna win a lot more often with 4 and 5 star kids. This class will be a mad scramble with a majority of kids already committed or down to a few schools but going forward we will still need to get elite guys to compete for titles.

There's some guys with crazy speed in Nebraska as well. May take a lot of work to turn them into football players, but they're there.

The stars are giving to players based on pro potential and how well they fit into NFL systems. Frost's players don't fit NFL systems. He wants tall, lean linemen that are in shape. Short, fast, scat running backs. WR/TE hybrids.

Will those type of player work it BIGfat10? We had a hard time keeping our blocks this year. Now you get some fast but little linemen. I see them getting man handled.

I disagree you don't have to play the same style as everyone else to win, in fact it is an advantage to be different. We can beat them to spots and wear them down, just as easy as trying to push them around. It's going to be a fun ride.

I wouldn't compare anything to this year because our coaching especially at the O line position was pathetic. I think people are going to be surprised by how good and talented our O line really is.

This is not true. Rivals gives explanation for star rating. It ranges from mid major to contributor to starter etc etc. Nothing to do with NFL systems. Look at every dual threat qb ranking and tell me it is based on them being NFL QBs.....come on man!

Where did I say he had to sign a specific type of player. It was a simple question of the reason he was choosing these type of players. Most of whom agree it is because he is looking for a specific skill set not a star ranking. Question answered,Thanks to those willing to give input

Your inference was that 3 star players were not good enough, thus my response.

I don't understand this thread. I've been absolutely shocked by the recruiting action displayed by this staff in less than a week. I'm guessing this is some kind of a troll. But the Huskers are setting themselves up for a class that's going to finish much better than what Riley would've signed.

I'm pretty sure the Huskers are going to end up with close to 10 Four Star recruits in this class. And that includes:

Adrian Martinez, the #4 ranked HS Dual Threat QB in the country according to ESPN, (9th ranked by Rivals) He will be visiting THIS weekend. And the Huskers are very much in the lead for this kid. He decommited from Tennessee and has offers from Bama, Oregon, and Oklahoma.

That's not even true. Maybe you should get a subscription on the pay board and learn something.
