Won’t shock me if we go into the SEC Tournament needing to win at least a couple games.
Aike, you're much more optimistic than I. I no wondering about the drive and motivation of the team finishing this out. Dudes are probably only think about after the season and getting their's. If Cal thought it's been tough so far, it's probably about to get way harder.

1- to be healthy

UK has had somebody seemingly unhealthy in every game this season. One player is even going through the loss of his father. That brings in a health of different kind, mental health.

Unfortunately with so many bad losses there is no time for everyone to get healthy. CJ is going to be a pain tolerance guy. but still injured. Wheeler hasn't been durable his entire time here.

We’ve played like an 8/9 seed this season. Stretches where we look like a 3 seed. Stretches where we look like an NIT team.

I don’t think I’m optimistic. Just realistic. If we get healthy again, I don’t think we just mail it in for 8 games. Odds are we will both look good and bad again the rest of the way.

But it could go all the way south. Especially if these nickel and dime injuries linger or increase.

We definitely got punked by Arkansas, and choked it away today.

We are Jekyll and Hyde with a little more Hyde I think.

1. Continue to generally blow it and remain out of tournament.

2. Do just enough damage the rest of the way to wind up Last 4 in.

3. Go on a nice run at the end, only to find ourselves in the 8/9 game.

I think that’s what we’ve done to ourselves at this point.

We are on the outside looking in. If we sneak back in then putting us in the Dayton game is a great narrative.

Even if we go on a run, they can easily justify an 8/9 based on resume. Another great narrative, setting up a potential made for tv round 2.
It’s over barring a miracle run in the SEC Tourney. Let’s be honest nobody sees that.

We are more likely to fumble our way through the rest of the season, grab 2-3 Q1 wins and squeak into the Tournament than we are to run through and win the SEC Tournament.

Today was bad but being exaggerated. It’s a Quad 2 loss. Wouldn’t have really mattered if we won or lost.

However, we need to play better. If we play like this the rest of the way, we’re toast. But you could have said exactly the same thing after Bama and USC.

I think the season probably ends within reason Wednesday night. But if we were to win…

Overly simplistic NCAA tournament hopes for the rest of the season(including conference tourney): lose 3 or less games and I feel good about being in, only way we could lose more and get in would be the 4th loss being on SEC Championship Sunday.

In all honesty I’m just expecting the roof to blow off this place with a 5 game losing streak.

What is the point of making the tournament only to ge embarrassed in the first round.

I just don’t see it man, they keep getting worse. It’s the same game over and over. Our defense sucks and Cal won’t try anything different. It’s like keep running the same stuff over and over and hope it works, that’s insanity.

They don’t keep getting worse. They were terrible, then they were pretty good, now they’re kind of terrible again.

Maybe they mail in the season, or maybe they have another good stretch. If this team has shown anything, it’s that they aren’t consistent.

I was in Vegas last week and noticed there are only 11 teams with better odds than UK to win the title. I thought that was more optimistic than anything I have seen or read anywhere. Then I realized you cant really get a decent feel for UK BBall on this board because while a lot of you guys are really smart, many just love to overreact and bash this team to show your hatred for Cal (not judging or commenting as everyone has a right to post as they wish, just stating it’s not always easy to get an accurate read as this board tends to tilt more negative)
Bur given Vegas tends to know more than anyone else when setting lines/ avoiding emotion, etc what do you attribute this to? Admittedly, this was before the @ GA loss
This is a legit question to Aike and others, no need to attempt to call names, bully, etc.

BBN needs to accept this team is NIT bound this season..we will have to win the SEC tourney to get into the dance..it's that simple..there are more losses coming...no more bubble or first 4 talk...it's win the SEC tourney or NIT....end of discussion

UT win may still be a Q1 but looking a lot less valuable these days. And beating Auburn isn’t going to be THAT impressive either

MSU at their place would be a good win. Then another UT win.

Don’t know what your model shows but thinking this team can win 2 games in the NCAA borders on the absurd.

Sadly, I see this team winning maybe 2 more games total in the regular season/SEC tournament. Probably looking at a 3/4 seed in the NIT. If we play another P5 school that doesn't really care then we may win our first game. If we play a mid-major that won their conference regular season title but lost in their conference tourney then we will probably lose. They will be PUMPED for a chance to play UK and I doubt we will match that intensity. Boys Sweet 16 on Rupp so the game would either have to be in Memorial or on the road.

Its a representation of the betting flow

it would seem there are still some people out there thinking Cal can pull a 2014 team out of his butt. To the casual sports better and fan, its a sentimental pick in a college basketball season devoid of any bluebloods performing well.

In a way it still an overreaction, those betters see the same thing everyone else does - NPOY, two highly rated 3 point shoots, a veteran PG and a supporting cast of big men and wonder why in the world this team isn't performing as a top 15 team.

We were probably looking at 3-4 down the stretch but we just lost one of the 2 easiest left.
So 2-5 now. Maybe.

They would be hard-pressed to win 2 games. A win in Dayton doesn’t count.

I think our best bet is something like 2006, where we won a game as an 8 seed then hung pretty tough with UCONN because we had Rondo.

I’m not sure we’re mentally tough enough to win that second game (if we even won the first), but sometimes flukes happen. Would need Wallace, Reeves, and CJ throwing darts.

Its a shame the " Kentucky affect". still shows up on teams that beat us , then suck *** their next game , and we are really not typical Kentucky anymore .

and Vegas is wrong on occasion , me a guy that gambles some were discussing yesterdays game , I ask if he knew the line , I said Ky minus 1 or 2, he said that sounds about right , maybe 3 .. and he googles it .. MINUS 7 .. Ha freaking Ha , we couldn't beat any SEC school on their home floor at this point . Terrible line for the game

Oh how I loathe teams that use us as their super bowl , then treat other games as " whatever" as Bruce Pearl does at Auburn every year versus us .. gets SKY HIGH for us then doesnt coach his *** off for weeks

Some combination of name recognition, and holdover from when we were predicted to be better/playing better.

There are legitimately 30+ teams more likely than us to win the Title this year, but Vegas will never give us those kind of odds. They don’t have to. Slide us down just a touch and someone will throw a few bucks on us because we’re Kentucky.

Who really cares at this point?

The only 3 possibilities I’m interested in are whether Cal stays, leaves on his own, or is fired.

Focusing on the minutia of a program rapidly spiraling downward is at best unfounded optimism and at worst enabling the bottom to fall out.
