It’s not that. It’s worse. Florida had 2 players that should have been removed from play. The officials don’t like to take that action. Political correctness run amuck. Nobody seems bound by the rules anymore.
And by rule it’s not a “judgement call”. Doesn’t matter how hard or forceful the contact. It’s supposed to be a technical.
Refs should be gone tomorrow.
Life isn’t black and white. I’m the first person to acknowledge that and live by it. This wasn’t “poor man shop lifts bread to eat”. That was a clear violation of the dead ball rules.
Hold them accountable
This and Matt sitting there tonight saying “what do you want them to do?”
Hold them accountable like any other job Matt. Come on. These weren’t judgment call calls they missed tonight. Nobody wants a ref hung out to dry over those. These we’re CLEAR CUT VIOLATIONS OF THE RULES OF THE GAME. If they can abide by those rules and uphold them, they SHOULD NOT BE OFFICIALS.
Who is actually going to do that exactly? I’m with you, they should have been ejected. Nobody is going to hold the refs accountable. They’ll be congratulated for keeping the players in play
The conference has to do it. They are the ones who hire them. And I believe in a contractual basis.
Head Of SEC Officiating works for the SEC Commissioner. Coaches and ADs need to be ringing his phone of the hook.
Make them do post game press conferences and answer questions about their calls. Coaches and players do it so why not officials.
The most mind blowing to me was the no jump ball/double dribble. It had to be one or the other and not a play on.
I think the key point is the conference has proven it can’t manage officiating. Gonna have to go to third party.
If a Kentucky player had done the “run and push into a defenseless player“ in the O dome. It would have been a tech, possibly flagrant, and the player would have been dismissed. We cannot even get close to a player in that Mickey Mouse facility, without a call.
If it was possible for a ref to be suspended, the push on Ware without a call would definitely be one. That could have caused a brawl with someone really getting hurt. And you let that go? It is and has been obvious forever now that some refs in the SEC do whatever they want because of no accounting to the job they do.
Yeah, I was complaining here at my house, believe that. I'd say we haven't seen many posts about it because it turned out to be a 20+ point blowout in the end and those calls didn't affect the outcome. If the game were closer or had we lost, the board would be filled with those posts.
I will also add, if there is one thing Cal has done well at instilling in these guys, it's this. You can't wait for the officials to make a call and you can't focus on the bad calls. You have to play through fouls and you have to win in spite of the officials. He will complain for them, but they need to ignore it. This is the life of a UK player. We don't get the calls. That's part of the gig. And these guys have been beating both the opponent AND the zebras all season. They did it again today and left no doubt.

One of those guys also called the Notre Dame and LSU games. Funny how we keep getting these guys who made sure we lost games or failed to beat the spread. This time Florida just wasn’t good enough to keep it within 10 points .
Sankey was at the Alabama game. No coincidence it was one of the best officiated games we have had this year. He seems to be oblivious otherwise.
It’s more Cal than UK but I do believe it will continue after Cal leaves. At least for awhile.
Two biggest issues in general:
1. The block/charge call is messed up 90% of the time and is often a gamechanger. Hell, TyTy got it both ways last game and was out with two fouls. Now because Coach K’s BS Italian football teaching, you have nearly every team taking dives and taking advantage of the imbecile refs. It’s the worst thing about college basketball.
2. In the SEC, they always try to even up the fouls. Well, about half our league plays a style meant to ugly the game up because we’re always athletically superior. I hate seeing us with a foul differential in our favor because I know these hack refs are going to call 5 straight fouls on us to even it up.
College basketball officiating is a joke and unfortunately this sport is the one where poor officiating can most affect the result.

It was actually jump ball, travel, then double dribble. The no call on the push in the back would have not gone that way if the uniforms were switched. Hopkins and Toppin we're not amused. Sharpe jumped up as well. Luckily we didn't lose a player for the next game due to coming off the bench. If that is a rule in college.

On #1 I thought he changed his pivot foot also ! So it looked like they missed a jump ball, a walk, and a double dribble ALL ON ONE PLAY! I doubt that’s ever been done before, lol .
Definitely good on Cal getting them ready to play through bad calls. My mental is weak and if I was on the receiving end like Lance or was coach of the team, I’m getting suspended and ejected. I’d put on such a scene it’d be on every sports talk show around the country. The world would know of these refs
Your explanation makes sense but that is not what everyone saw happen. The exchange in possession had to be a jump ball at some point since both players had the ballI figured out the held ball/ travel no call.
The refs decided it was 2 turnovers, Ware took it from Castleton, had possession, then Castleton took it back from Ware, allowing him to dribble again. That is the only explanation that makes that situation possible.

And don't forget the first ridiculous non-call, where a FL guard (who had the ball) pushed our guy (Washington, I believe) in the back hard enough to knock him to the floor (no flop either). Since he had the ball everybody saw it, except apparently the Refs (who I guess could have been somewhat shielded from seeing it).
. I don’t think Shows would have ever missed that double dribble. Not even at the peak of his ineptitude. He has been better the last couple of years. Right now there is way too much hand checking, again, and too many arm bars on the dribblers and cutters. This **** was supposed to have been stopped 4-5 yrs ago. The officiating has gotten way worse and it shows big time in a game like yesterday when they don’t make any calls on 3 obvious easy plays to call. There are no more Booker Turners or Irv Browns out there. For you young ones on here these were two great refs from the 70’s and 80’s.
That will just turn into another reality tv drama. You think the refs don’t know this already? You know what they think about your questions.
Make their pay subject to third party review and scoring. Public accountability amounts to crap. Pay checks get attention
