You could see that Penn State had figured out Nebraska’s offense in the first half, and they followed through in the second while Frost&Co couldn’t figure much out.

Indiana is undefeated and ranked 10th. Nebraska and Penn State were battling to get out of the ranks of the winless.

We are experiencing the End of Days.

What was that!? Anything you start to feel good frost checks you. Rooting for this team is torcher. Thank god Clifford played as long as he did

Yeah, but if not for a dumb running back PSU had Indiana beat.

I disagree. I think if the blocking was better than subpar today, he could've had more of a chance to throw downfield.

Also, having an OC that knows what he’s doing would help as well. Frost coaches scared and is anything but a great play caller.

Mmmm some of that was how conservatively we called plays. There were some RPOs called but I'm sure that Luke was told "don't turn it over". I'm also sure that he's a smart enough football guy to know without being told that if he takes care of the ball that we likely win the game. That last INT was very unfortunate but I don't blame him for that one.

It was Luke's first start. He won. I'll give him some time to settle in. Having said that, the pass game is abysmal.

Wrong question .. need to play to Luke’s strengthens... get him out of the pocket and option football.
PSU made a great effort to keep him in the pocket. He's not Joe Montana but he did a nice job for his first start. He kept drives alive with his feet. Thought the young backs played well when called on.

I was happy to see Luke trot out there and start the game. He had a nice strong first half, but that second half was brutal... Luke has to learn that sometimes you have to just eat the sack, but I think the bigger issue is no team will respect our passing game, and honestly there is no need for them to... We still can’t throw the ball deep and without that being a legit threat teams will stack the box and dare us to beat them deep... A win is a win and I’ll take it, but this passing game needs to start kicking in so we can open the field up.

We still have not scored a touchdown in the 2nd half this season.
And zero actual pass TD’s in 3 games (even if Betts’ fwd pitch shows as a pass). Thanks again Warner.

The two man predictable 2nd half offense and lack of vertical passing is a problem.
We were lucky today to walk away with a W, but I’m thrilled to get that W.

Yeah that was pretty bad. I just don’t get what he’s trying to do on O. But I’ll take a win against Penn State any day.
They got EXTREMELY conservative with their playcalling as an 0-2 team might want to do. There was TREMENDOUS pressure on this staff to win this game and they coached like that in the second half. Give them credit for the first half game plan and the way that defense played. Take the W and get better on offense next week. PSU is a very physically talented team. We won.

I’m glad we won. Luke definitely has some intangibles, but he is not a good passer and I don’t think he has what it takes to really make this offense click. I hate to say it, but I don’t feel much better after watching this game.

Absolutely agree with this response. I’ll say it again: SF keeps putting our QB’s in situations where it is difficult to succeed instead of playing to their strengths. Scott’s here for a long time so hopefully a light goes off...Luke played very good IMO.

That second half was NOT on Luke. It was PSU adjusting at halftime AND very conservative play calling. We won. Enjoy it. Luke's first start is a W.

The vertical passing game will come with time IMO. We had some play calls to do go deep but Luke IMO tried to be very careful with the ball. Betts and a couple of the other new WRs can take the top off the defense and probably will against less talented secondaries.

Oh don’t get me wrong I wasn’t blaming Luke at all for that second half, although I can see how my post read like that... I think over all he played a hell of a game, he is young and just has learn to take the sack some times... when I say the second half was brutal I refer to the offense as a whole, only like 90 something yards total... we needed to slow down and manage the clock and to do that you need to pick up some 1st downs... pass when needed but overall run the clock down, we couldn’t move the ball at all the second half and I think it’s because like you said the staff was calling a very conservative game in the second half
