Madison County has 6 freshmen, 5 sophomores, 2 juniors and 3 seniors. And the JV team is just loaded. The team is lead by pitchers...a Sophomore (East Carolina University commit) and a Freshmen. Usually pitch both...and they are quite the duo. Another freshmen, the second baseman has hit more dingers than most teams.
Madison beat Goochland in 12 innings on a walk off homer by the freshman pitcher to win the 2A East title. They beat Nottoway the game before, also in 12 innings, in similar fashion.

We could see these teams battle for a title for the next several years it sounds like.
Same in baseball. There were a ton of freshmen playing and seriously contributing in the Bull Run this year.
It's Richlands vs Madison for the title tomorrow. Really excited to see this pitching duel. Couple of aces it seems. Osborne had 15 Ks today against Goochland to bring her freshman season total to 291. That's quite the season as a 14/15 year old.
Probably going to be a 2-1 or 1-0 type game in Radford tomorrow. I hope the fans come out for Richlands like they do for football.

Madison is as good as advertised. Richlands also showed their extreme youth by committing 3 errors that gave Madison 3 of their 4 runs

R-lands made 3 errors...following base hits. At least 2 runs were earned maybe 3 depending on the scoring. Madison's extremely young team step up big today. They had, what, 8 hits or so? I felt this game was over after the second inning. Maybe a rematch next year, and 2019 and maybe 2020?
The first error was on what should have been a single. But the LF letting it roll past her turned that into a double. Should have been a base hit with a maybe 1 run scored or bases loaded with 2 outs.
But it's all moot in any case. They did charge Mac with 1 earned run in the game.
I think we may see that rematch several times. Should be fun the next several years.
Just spoke with a reporter. They charged 2 of the 4 runs as earned for Mac. She still ended up with a 0.47 ERA this year as a freshman and he 295 Ks. No a bad day at the office as a 14 year old.
Just heard that Madison County's Sophomore Logyn Estes was named 2A Player of the Year.
