2A Corivan 19-0 Independence 7A

It’ll be interesting to see what independence does the rest of the year. Indy was shut out in week 1 too. I wouldn’t overreact yet.
It was obvious during last year's playoffs that they were going to be a problem this year with how young, big and athletic they were. I'll be shocked if anyone in the 2A west has anything for them this season.
I know I mentioned that them beating independence may spell doom for everyone. But I've seen comments on social media that independence is actually down this year. I still fully expect corvian to be in the mix in the West though. They play Chambers next week
Independence may be down for a Charlotte 7a school or whatever they are… but most 2a schools aren’t within 20 pts of them in a down year i wouldn’t think. Corvian will be a serious problem.
Corvian beating Indy like this is an eye opener on how the charter school system is impacting public schools as well. Indy must also be down.
I’m not denying that they are good and are gonna be extremely hard to beat - but just don’t crown them yet.
Independence lost their HC to West Charlotte and lost a few of their players that transfered to the 8A State Champions Hough. I agree lets see what happens when it comes November to December.
I’m not ready to give them anything just yet. They are very good but they haven’t shown they can stop a good running team when it counts the most. Time will tell.
This right here is why I'm not sold on them yet. They haven't shown they can stop a very good rushing attack at all. Or a team that is very physical like Tarboro and Murphy. Who knows maybe this year they can but based on what I've seen so far I have my doubts.
I looked at some of the schedules of these teams and while Independence may be down this year and 0-2, but besides Corvian, they played Byrnes out of SC and lost 0-7. Byrnes is ranked 9th overall in SC based on MaxPreps. I think the game against Chambers will tell a lot though. Cambers beat Gray Collegiate Academy (SC - Currently ranked 16th) 50-21.
Oddly enough, Chambers is ranked lower than Independence and Corvian. Chambers is 23rd in NC, Independence is 18th, Corvian is 17th.

The highlights are on YouTube. I’m not slighting the win - I think it’s a statement win for Corvian - but independence looked like a lost puppy on offense. The QB struggled to throw the ball 10 yards.
If Corvian keeps recruiting like they are and that talent keeps coming to them we can kiss all these discussions goodbye come playoff time moving forward. Tarboro has done it the right way over all these years by building the program and kids wanting to get older so they can play there and be apart of the tradition. Corvian starts this program and all these kids come from mallard creek and beyond to slap a team together to beat everyone else in 2A.
It's hard for one Charlotte area school to keep that up for a long period of time.
There was weather that allowed the game against Byrnes to not get finished. Independence refused to go back and finish the game Saturday or Monday. I think it was in the 1st quarter when it got delayed.
Yea, I thought I read something about not finishing the game. It could’ve possibly been ugly
I don’t doubt corvian is good but it could end up looking like Pamlico over Newbern back in 2018
