Myself and 70221 others watched WVU beat The U in a 17-14 classic at New Mountaineer Field on a cold 3:30 abc game that was AWESOME!!!!

Best atmosphere ever!

I was there, and the thing that stands out most to me to this day, is that while taking a leak at halftime, the lines were massive and I was gone for almost the entire halftime. Bought a coke prior to returning to my seat, only to find that the three guys that went with me drank my pint of George Dickel I was saving for the bitter, cold 2nd half.

That may have been the coldest game I've gone to in Morgantown, but more than likely there were colder games, maybe a late season Syracuse game. We stayed down off the interstate in Clarksburg/Bridgeport that night, and for whatever the reason, I took route 50 all the way home to Winchester across the mountains, and everybody in the car ended up throwing up along the ride, except for me, but I would have too had I not been driving.

I’ve been there all 4 times the goal posts came down (84 BC (one end), 84 Sandusky, 88 Sandusky & 93 the U) and I remember this time coming down being the fastest. I actually have pieces of the cut up posts.

I mentioned 70222 but some AD people told there was likely near 80k there. They took out the turnstiles at the Student Section entrance and I know people who got in with a library card and 1 person with a CPR certification and an old PRT card. Not really checking that night The fire Marshall Reportedly fined them for the 70222 (we’ll over capacity). I know there was no aisles in the student section and it was full by 2:30 for a 3:30 kickoff——never saw that before or since. Got to love festival seating even after “The Who” in Cincinnati. That is the loudest game I’ve ever been to.

As for the cold games, 05 on Thanksgiving Night vs North Korea was COLD. I was wearing hunting coveralls and my Rockys with 1000 grams thinsulate and still got a little chili.

Jake the Snake. They scored that winning touchdown right in front of where we were sitting that night. Of course, I was still pissed off over the liquor, but that was probably the loudest I have ever heard that stadium when they scored. I didn't watch the highlights, but if I can still remember, it seems as though it was one of the only times where Dandy Don didn't play conservative when trying to run out the clock. Seems they ran a reverse for a nice gain, and even had a long pass during the final 2-3 minutes to end the game with the ball.

The only mistake in that final drive was the wide receiver (freshman) ran out of bounds to stop the clock on that reverse play. The game was over, but it made for a good lesson learned (or teaching moment).
