the 2026 Super 32 Challenge takes place Oct. 24 & 25 at Greensboro Coliseum, in Greensboro, NC.

Please use this thread for all pre-tournament, in-tournament, and post-tournament discussion.

Wrestling has become somewhat of a year-round sport for youth. That said, I associate S32 with the start of the high school season, even though it doesn't officially start in PA until December.

I think Rokfin had a list of seeds at each weight but I’m not a subscriber.

Which PSU-linked guys are going?

I believe the only PSU verbals that are registered are William Soto and James Whitbred. That's based on a quick (accent on quick) search of the entry database, so it's possible I missed a verbal.

Recruits that PSU is interested in? Since that's an inexact science at best (for us), I hesitate to even speak to that. But others are free to speak about it.

Some recent updates from Saylor, via this link

A couple nuggets for S32...
Keegan Bassett is out w/ injury.
Brooklyn Picket out w/ injury.
Kooper Deputy is back in though 113/120 is the question. Plans 113 as of now.
Joey Bachmann has moved from 175 to 190.
Both Silva boys (Thales/Thiago CA) are out w/ injury.

Bachmann went FR 107, SO 127, JR 152, now SR 189? (Maybe he gets down to 172 for the regular season, still.)

Gotta think Freddy isn't too far behind. He went FR 114, SO 127.

This causes some potential logjam for Iowa, with 184 Ferrari and 197 Ludington both having 4+ yrs left.

Is Ludington a must start for Iowa? They had Arnold bump all the way up to 197.

Bachman will pick the easiest PIAA. Running from Bassett/Harer showed us something.

We will find out here real soon. Bachmann is probably a 197 at this point. It will be interesting what happens in HS this year Faith Christian will have Bachmann and #4 Nick Singer probably both at 190

Surprise how big Bachmann got so fast. I’m sure him and Singer will both be starting somehow that’s just too much talent to have one guy sitting.

AA 189-215 will be so thin, they'll disappear if they turn sideways.

The only other national-level wrestler (O'Farrill) transferred to AAA State High.

There are a few decent state-level wrestlers, but any of them beating Singer or Bachmann would be a massive upset. One of them (Horwat) did beat Singer at states last year, and it was probably the biggest upset of the weekend. (Horwat was a regional runner-up, then got majored in the state finals by Wentzel, who Singer majored at 2025 states.)

Anyway, I don't see any returnees from last year's AA 172-189-215 brackets factoring into a FCA weight decision, unless Singer decides he wants another shot at Horwat.

It was Ludington's true FR year and Brands was committed to retaining his shirt.

He was a top 10 recruit in his class. He'll have his chance.

But I'd turn that question around the other way: Bachmann often shuts down his offense against better HS opponents. Is he gonna have more offense in college against full-grown men?

Training in the Iowa room the first guess is he isn't all of a sudden going to become an offensive juggernaut. Against middle to slightly above the expectation should be he will wrestle many 7 minute plus matches and win more than he loses because of toughness and conditioning.

Too early to tell w Bachman but id gamble on his upside.. Ludington’s RS year wasn’t good.. Arnold was the best option, even up 2 weights, at 197.

I'll go back to my original point: Iowa will have a multi-year conflict of 3 guys for 2 spots. Somebody has to sit.

Perhaps Ludington will take advantage of his opportunity this year. Or maybe Bachmann will toss his Large Mason Beckman costume after Halloween. Otherwise, this looks like a tallest midget contest for 2028.

Bachmann is 195 now so he's probably a 197 in another year

As an aside, seeing SCHS start to have more hammers on its roster under the tutelage of - checks notes - some dude named Jason Nickal seems to be a somewhat positive development.

I mean - it’s no Stillwater High - which rivals Dagestan even if ten gallon hats aren’t factored in, but it’s a start
This will be Jason's 3rd year as head coach

My point was is Ludington a must start? I don’t get your point u r talking like he is guaranteed a spot. Psu has multi year conflict all the time, what’s so surprising, the better guy starts. Angelo is a diff story at Iowa . U clearly try to fit him in the lineup.

We can all agree that Ferrari is the best of the 3, right? Good.

Next: I never once said Ludington is guaranteed a spot. I don't think he is -- hence "3 guys for 2 spots, somebody has to sit." Feel free to take my words literally instead of trying to interpret them.

I also think there's a decent chance Bachmann doesn't live up to the hype. That doesn't make Ludington the starter. Maybe Ludington is better, maybe Bachmann is better, or maybe one of them is less bad.

Two things in Ludington's favor: he'll have a 2-yr head start in college training with Bachmann still in HS, and he doesn't need to acclimate to the weight.

Your point would make more sense if all three were Ferrari’s lvl- high AA/champ. Look how many AA caliber “3 guys for 2 spots, somebody has to sit” Psu has.
