Rocco had a Polymarket bet for $2 million on the Wolverines.
I have fully bought in that this team stinks and Campbell needs time.

With that said, there is no way you can reasonably throw Becht out there again in two weeks. The season is in the sh*tter and Becht has already lost you two games. It can’t get worse. See what you got with QB2 and then get your engines started on portal season.

On a positive note, Sowell was unbelievable. And I’ve hated on Hansen for two months and he showed some serious toughness today.
Yep. The team is ***. It’s that simple. The talent just is not there.

The sad thing is that they actually have some good targets for the passing game, which had been a sore spot for several years, and now we’re stuck with a jabrone QB who gets significantly worse in close-and-late situations.

But yeah, you look at the run game, and it’s a bunch of 2nd stringers vying for carries. Both lines are atrocious. The defense has one solid/consistent player surrounded by a bunch of dudes that evidently thought they were signing up for an intramural flag league.

And once again, the coaching staff isn’t imaginative enough to say, “We don’t have a lot of talent. Let’s be creative and see what we can do. Let’s be aggressive because we have nothing to lose.” Same old garbage: short passes to the sidelines, terrified to throw over the middle of the field, zero red zone efficiency…

This program is going to need to make a splash in the portal after this season because this is really the wrong time to be losing luster. Good thing we’re not playing Pitt this year.

Lets take a look at 4 PSU losses and the opposing teams' records minus their games against PSU:

Loss 1: Wisconsin 3-1 against opponents other than PSU with the loss to #2 ND.

Loss 2: Northwestern 4-1 against opponents other than PSU with the loss to #5 Indiana.

Loss 3: USC 5-1 against opponents other than PSU with the loss to Oregon.

Loss 4: Michigan 3-2 against opponents other than PSU with the losses to Iowa and Minnesota.
0-4 Penn State. Last place in the Big Ten. Excellence at the highest level.

This is just my opinion. I think there is a great deal of talent on that Nittany Lion bench that could contribute right now. Playing kids for reasons beyond ability and skill almost never works out.

I'm actually saying VT would be favored, and that shows us how far PSU has fallen and how far VT has risen
Only the most misdirected PSU fans would suggest that CJF would not make VT competitive. They won 3 games last year, and will win 6 or 7 this year and make a bowl. VT could easily be 6-1 losing to Pitt on a narrowly missed game winning field goal. Wins will be difficult for the remainder of the season. However, He will recruit well, build a better defense (the offense is leaps and bounds better than PSU) and the VT future looks bright. He might poach a few players from PSU as well, both portal and on the recruiting trail.
Matt Campbell was a life boat for a sinking Pat Kraft Titanic like coaching search. Campbell is a program building coach who would have been a good fit at a school like Arkansas, where 7-5 or 8-4 would be celebrated. All the fluff from the fawning BWICAC here touting his razor like ability to identify talent and his brilliant in game management skills are hogwash. He's a bad fit for PSU and I feel sorry for him.
James Franklin, PSU and Kraft needed to part ways. PSU needs to fire Kraft. As for big games? It's going to be a long, long time.

The fans have yet come to grips with just what dire straights this program is in. MC may turn out to be the HC a lot of people thought and hoped he would be but it's going to take years of good recruiting to make that happen. Recruiting because PS doesn't have the money to compete in the NIL market. MC better be a great recruiter and we don't even know if he can be.

Aside from the in-game goofs by MC and his staff they get a pass from me this year and I doubt that will change next year as he will be starting from scratch all over again.

If after year three things haven't gotten a lot better MC and the AD will have both disappeared from PS.

Lets take a look at that 5-2 and the opposing teams' records minus their games against Franklin Tech:

Win 1: FCS VMI - 0-6 against opponents other than Jimmy U.

Win 2: ODU - 2-4 against opponents other than Frank U Very Much with one of those wins being Norfolk St.

Win 3: Maryland - 2-4 against opponents other than Frank's Hot Sauce U with one of those wins against Hampton and a loss to perennial B1G Top 18 Rutgres.

Win 4: BC - 3-2 against opponents other than Frank's Used Cars U. with 2 of those those wins being against powerhouses Rutgres and Maine.

Win 5: Ga Tech - 2-3 against opponents other than King James' U. with one of those wins being against Mercer.

Very impressive.
This is go tech beat old dominion shown with stats and facts and is exactly what I’ve been telling you boys.

Everyone in the world thought Campbell was a great get when all was said and done. He was really behind the eight ball with the late hire, I dont believe the guy after 7 games here turned into a total chump.
Overall I agree but I don't think everyone thought he was a great get--I think most were disappointed but, also most, were willing to give him a shot.

I agree with almost everything you said, but i have never understood the "James Franklin, PSU and Kraft needed to part ways." I've heard that so much from so many but have never heard why? If we needed to part ways.... Who was better? The firing of JF (especially the timing of said firing) was the demise of the program. It made us look like a terrible place to coach. What good candidate is going to come to place that just fired a guy after two bad weeks following a year where he was one play from the title. No good candidate would want to work for that. Also, the mass exodus of our players shows they didn't like the decision to fire JF. Like I said I agree with almost all of your post, I have never understood why so many just assumed JF needed fired. If Penn state could choose between firing Kraft or Franklin, they chose the wrong guy. JF wanted to be at PSU and Kraft said "nope we can do better" Kraft and many fans did not realize that there was only about a 10 percent chance for an upgrade and 90 percent chance for a downgrade.

I know that no one gives a sh|t, but I liked that Campbell was on the field checking on our guys who were hurt yesterday.

The relationship between Kraft and Franklin had fractured beyond repair. Like any divorce blame can be found with both parties. I have written about the circumstances many times here. I think it originated over a disagree about the timing, and scope of the stadium renovations. Franklin felt it would impact NIL. Kraft insisted otherwise. After that it snow balled.

PSU clearly fired the wrong party. They kept the selfish, self-absorbed, empty-suit clown, who negotiated a massive pay raise and $18 million ironclad guaranteed contract for himself in late-2024 on top of the stadium renovation expenditures...... Then he threw Franklin under the bus by failing to live up to roster budget commitments he made which were highly detrimental to Franklin's roster and recruiting commitments (blew them up to be specific - Franklin lost many potential starters both from the roster and Recruiting Commitments prior to signing day). The BoT and Neeli are going to ride the Kraft crap-show all the way down like a nuclear meltdown until this program is unrecognizable..... but they keep asking the Alumni and Season Ticket Holders for more and more $$$ to fund this pathetic ridiculousness - go figure.

It took the past 4 games for the entitled and delusional portion of the fanbase (We Deserve Better) to grasp reality. Remember when beating teams "without a pulse" was mocked? In the past month the new savior has managed to blow a 17 point lead and resurrect a dying Wisconsin program, get deeked into squandering timeouts in front of 114k, get blown off the field by Northwestern and finally lose to a true freshman QB leading the worst Michigan team in recent memory. We Deserve Better?
