Nobody had a charge besides Schefler who was just a shot too far back and Friday killed him otherwise he wins pretty easily. Rory did just enough and everyone around him just faded. Surprised Young didn't play better. Rose at the Masters is like Phil at the U.S. Open. It would have been cool to see a McIlroy vs Schefler playoff.

No one better than at -7 made a big charge as in a 5 under rd so no one could get all the way to -12 and really put the pressure on McIlroy. I am pretty sure if Scheffler was at -12 when McIlroy comes to the 72nd hole he probably bogeys and falls into a playoff.

Anyone else think that PGA Tour players have it too easy? The top should be fined for not participating in home events in their county or neighboring county imo (ex - Rory, JT, Brooks, etc. - at the Cognizant). Same for the guys in Texas and their events.

I'm in the center of the golf universe, yet we'll someday lose a tournament b/c of tour scheduling and no one wants to play at PGA National - especially if the wind blows.

If you're local, you shouldn't have a choice unless you're hurt. It's your community. Step up for it.

Rickie is the only guy locally that gets this.

The Cognizant was in a horrible spot on the schedule this year, and it's understandable to me why guys didn't play it. Signature event at Pebble Beach, Signature Event at Riviera, travel back to Florida for the Cognizant, then Signature event at Bay Hill, and the Players. Unless you're playing 5 weeks in a row, the Cognizant is the obvious one to skip (and almost everyone did). Even Rickie skipped it because it didn't make sense this year.

I personally liked it a lot better when we didn't have Signature events and all of the fields were pretty decent but we rarely got everyone playing the same week, but I'm in the minority it seems. It was great for tournaments when each player had to play each event a certain number of times, but the PGA needed to keep up with the Jones of LIV (as LIV bleeds money) by upping the purses with these Signature events.

Sounds like it will all be moot soon anyways as they adopt the new format in 27 or 28. My guess is the field at PGA National will be even weaker than we saw this year.

Yep and it's a shame. The old Fazio (not the current Nicklaus) course has already hosted a PGA Championship in August 87. Before that, next door, JDM CC (now called Ballen Isles, then called the original PGA National) hosted the PGA which Jack commuted to a win in 1971.

With the move to May - If PGA headquarters were still in Palm Beach Gardens instead of Bumf*ck, Texas - they could have made another PGA happen maybe, but that ship has sailed obviously.

As it is, the tour scheduling (as you said) will just have the venue wither on the vine. At least we got Doral back from Mexico.

If you were guaranteed wind, PGA National would produce a few under par at best PGA winner. Nothing more fun than watching tour pros hit it in the water. And PGA can do that.

I also think that the TPC Stadium Course should be looked at for a PGA Championship (as well as Doral). Florida is now the home of golf. You can't host a major at Seminole, but the PGA (in May) should be in FL soon, imo. PGA Properties have different things in mind though. They can pay themselves to do Frisco next year. It's about nothing but $$$ for them. Glad I'm an ex-member.
