86 kilograms round two: Kyle Dake vs. Zahid Valencia (Valencia leads 1-0)

We're underway. Valencia tries a single but can't get there and then Valencia is warned for passivity at 5:15. Dake was pushing Valencia toward the edge but Valencia flips the mat around and pushes Dake out after nearly being pushed out himself. Impressive. Valencia leads 1-0 at 4:30. Dake is now warned for passivity at 4:22. After that restart, they were in neutral the rest of the way.

Valencia leads 1-0 after one.

BREAK ENDS

The second period is underway. Dake has strong push forward and gets two as they go off the edge to take a 2-1 lead early in the second period. Valencia shoots and Dake blocks it off. Stalemate at 2:16. Valencia is put on the clock at 1:42. Now Valencia shoots and Dake counters it and ends up throwing Valencia off the mat for a push out and a 3-1 lead while Valencia is on the clock. The clock expires and now it's 4-1 Dake with 1:10 left. Valencia now on a single but Dake chest wraps him and it's a stalemate at :52. And now there's blood time for Valencia.

Now we're back to action at :52. Dake counters a Valencia shot and almost has a step out but Valencia fends that off for the time being. Stalemate at :15. Valencia tries to trip but Dake fends it off. That's it.

Dake d. Valencia 4-1, setting up match three

I have to think that with everything that was going on with Blaze at Nationals, his performance there was an anomaly.
I respect you. But Blaze went:
  • TF win
  • TF win
  • Dec win over Ayala
  • TB loss to Davino
  • TF win
Before losing to Seidel in the consolation final. I just don’t see the anomaly/bad tourney everyone else claims. Seidel, who is really, really good, was just better that day. Everything else was what we saw all season.

I kind of hope Carr wins because when he is right he is a definite contender. He still just doesn’t look right though. Something is off with him
